However, there is still plenty of ground to cover as Nintendo has yet to tap into many of its hit franchises. There is so much potential, and we couldn’t be more ecstatic to see the games below come to fruition. These are 10 Nintendo Switch sequels that need to happen.
10Super Mario Odyssey 2
It’s entirely plausible thatSuper Mario Odyssey 2is already in the works. If Nintendo follows suit with what they did on the Nintendo Wii, they will release twoSuper Mario Odysseysfor the Nintendo Switch.Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2are two of Nintendo’s most innovative platformers.Super Mario Odysseyis a groundbreaking addition to theSuper Mariofranchise, and it’s a game that needs a sequel. What does Nintendo have in store for the future of theSuper Mario series? It has to be a new breakthrough in gaming.
9Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! 2
For those who didn’t playPokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!or those who only beat the main story, it’s possible to unlock Trainer Red and face him in the game. Perhaps this is foreshadowing for aPokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!sequel.

The sequel ofPokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!would likely be based onPokémon Gold, Silver,andCrystalfrom generation two. The Johto region would be the perfect setting for a sequel as there is much more detail in the area when compared to Kanto. A sequel would look jaw-droppingly brilliant in gorgeous 1080p on the big screen.

SinceMario Kart 8originally released on the Wii U, we haven’t received aMario Kartexclusive for the Nintendo Switch. SureMario Kart 8 Deluxestill looks fantastic on Nintendo’s most recent console, yet aMario Kart 9could look even better. The gameplay ofMario Kart 8hasn’t grown stale, but the people deserve a sequel that undoubtedly has plenty of demand.Mario Kart 8 Deluxeproves that kart racing games are more popular than ever.
7Diablo 4
Diablo 3has proven to be successful on consoles, and there is plenty of demand for a sequel. It’s worth noting that people have found exploits on console thatBlizzardnever addressed. Being able to level your character to a high level defeated the purpose of the game. ADiablo 4could rectify mistakes made on console ports, and bring the game to a whole new light. Reports are indicating that aDiablo 4could be announced at BlizzCon 2019.Now would be a perfect time to announce the highly anticipated sequel.
6Paper Mario Switch
Throughout the years, we’ve seen hitPaper Mariogames likePaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door,Paper Mario,Super Paper Mario,Paper Mario: Color Splash,andPaper Mario: Sticker Star.So far, there really hasn’t been a badPaper Mariotitle. Nintendo keeps pumping out hit after hit with thePaper Marioseries. There is so much demand for aPaper Marioon the Nintendo Switch. If it looks anywhere near as good asPaper Mario: Color Splash, it will be a hit.The combat system inPaper Mariois stupefying.
5Super Mario RPG 2

It is still regarded as a phenomenal role-playing game because of its engrossing story and intelligent usage of Nintendo’s characters.IGN praised the game, giving it a score of 9.5.It was possible to downloadSuper Mario RPGfor the Nintendo Wii, but now players are left in the dark when it comes to Mario role-playing games.Super Mario RPGwas likely ahead of its time, but there is certainly plenty of demand for a sequel today.
4WarioWare Switch
Nintendo’s controller may not have the motion capabilities of the Nintendo Wii, but some capabilities would work with a newWarioWare.WarioWarewasn’t always a motion-controlled game, butWarioWare: Smooth Movesfor Wii was possibly the best of the series.

WarioWareis a party video game that uses intelligent movements to solve a series of puzzles. It’s a game that requires rhythm and triumphant skill-testing. It seems as if every Nintendo character is being featured in a game. Wario, Mario’s fat rival who resembles a construction foreman, deserves this sequel and more.
Cupheadwas a massive success receiving critical acclaim and more. It won multiple awards at The Game Awards, including Best Art Direction, Best Debut Indie Game, and Best Independent Game. It’s cartoon-style that is reminiscent of the Golden Age of cartoons. It’s 2D visuals that are backed by fun gameplay.Cupheadhas a learning curve, and most people will find it to be difficult. However, it is unique and has a rich soundtrack, giving the game tremendous replay value.
2Donkey Kong Country 4
Donkey Kong Countryis one of Nintendo’s most revered franchises for its fluid platforming and co-op gameplay.Donkey Kongwas once a huge part of Nintendo’s games, appearing in several of his own exclusives. Nowadays, Nintendo has gotten lazy and is just porting old Donkey Kong games to the Nintendo Switch. We need a Donkey Kong sequel toDonkey Kong 64and a sequel toDonkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. There’s no telling what they might call a new sequel, but as long as it stars Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong, they should be okay.
1Metroid Prime 4
Metroid Prime 4is one of the Nintendo Switch’s most anticipated games. With the originalMetroid Prime Trilogyavailable on the Wii and a sequel not releasing on the Wii U, fans are desperately waiting forMetroid Prime 4. How it’s been this long since the lastMetroid Prime 4is unfathomable. According to a report frombusinessinsider.com,“In an announcement shared on YouTube, Nintendo senior executive Shinya Takahashi said that the Nintendo Switch exclusive “Metroid Prime 4” will restart development and the game will be rebuilt from the ground up.”
