A second trailer forSpider-Man: No Way Homehas arrived and while it may not have any official sightings of Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield, Marvel fans believe they have found evidence that proves the former Spider-Man actors will appear in the film.
Rumors have circulated around the involvement of Maguire and Garfield throughout the production ofSpider-Man: No Way Home. Garfield has repeatedly insisted that he was not involved withNo Way Home, and Kevin Feige has warned fans against setting themselves up for disappointment. Unfortunately for them, Marvel fans are hoping to prove them wrong.

TheNo Way Hometrailer that was released by Sony Pictures Brasil, doesn’t appear all that different from the trailer that was shown in the United States. What has grabbed the attention of many is the sequence that showsElectro, the Lizard, and Sandmansquaring off against Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. This occurs around the 53-second mark and a few seconds later, the Lizard is seen to be struck by something or someone. Holland is not in the vicinity of the Lizard, which has prompted Marvel fans to believe that someone was edited out of the shot. The presence of three villains suggests that there are three heroes to combat them and who better than the trifecta of Spider-Men?
Further examination of the brief shot provides this theory with additional evidence. Holland’s trajectory seems to be headed straight for Sandman, while the Lizard and Electro seem preoccupied with something else in front of them. With the Lizard being struck, it certainly seems they are engaging in a battle with someone the trailer fails to show. Ina previously leaked set of photos, Holland, Maguire, and Garfield were all seen standing on a pier. This backdrop seems to fit the battle scene which is clad with various bars that match the pier’s.
The trailer that premiered in Los Angeles gives a glimpse of the Green Goblin and provides a few instances of deja-vu. Among them isa scene where MJ is fallingand a Spider-Man-clad hand reaches out to save her. In Maguire’sSpider-Man, he had to save his MJ from falling to her death courtesy of the Green Goblin. Garfield experienced a similar situation inThe Amazing Spider-Man 2, but his attempts failed. This may mean that Holland isn’t the one reaching for MJ, but that it is actually Garfield saving her to make up for not saving Gwen.
Nothing can be officially confirmed untilNo Way Homedebuts in theaters, but the scenes like the battle withElectro, Sandman, and the Lizardseem to be as close to a confirmation that anyone will get from Marvel. Even without the returns of Maguire and Garfield,No Way Homehas a lot of returning faces that make this movie a must-see for any Spider-Man fan.
