Assault rifles are the bread and butter of theApex Legendsweapon selection. They all handle differently from one another and perform great at medium-ranged fights. All assault rifles work well in any load-out, as to their flexibility in close and medium-ranged battles. There are currently five assault rifles inApex Legends, and recently they have seen a recent shakeup with the introduction of the new Nemesis.Skirmishers and assault legend classesmake the best use of assault rifles as they are the ones that initiate fights and do so at a distance.

Assault rifles pair well with snipers, shotguns, and SMGs. Most assault rifles have great hip-fire accuracy and allow players to perform exceedingly well at close-quarter engagements.

5Hemlok Burst AR

The Hemlok is a powerful weapon and is currently in the care package. The care package provides the Hemlok with the best attachments and ammo that does not hog up a player’s inventory. Players can carry more heals or ordinances with the freed-up ammo slots or even ultimate accelerants. The most vital advantage of the Hemlok is its light recoil and burst headshot potential.

Players going for consistent headshots with the Hemlok will get the most out of the weapon, but due to the difficulty of landing headshots at longer ranges, the Hemlok is often ignored. Players that knowhow to use assault rifleswill understand that the Hemlok pairs best with a 2x-4x Variable AOG. The added zoom helps players narrow in on enemies and score headshots more frequently. With burst enabled, the Hemlok has a DPS of 159 damage and 147 with single fire mode.

4R-301

The R-301 reigned supreme as a great weapon until it received a damage nerf in season 16. The R-301 is still powerful and easy to use, but the reduced damage makes the other assault rifles more desirable.

Many players continue to use the R-301 since they have gotten accustomed to the recoil pattern and can land more shots with it when compared to the other assault rifles. Due to its simple recoil, the R-301 is a frequent choice inload-outs for beginners. The recoil pattern is among the easiest in assault rifles. The R-301 has a fast reload and a DPS of 176.

3VK-47 Flatline

Before the R-301 was nerfed, the Flatline was its main competitor. After the R-301 was nerfed, the Flatline became the better choice weapon for many players. The Flatline has two extra bullets in its magazine compared to the R-301 and has more damage per bullet. The rate of fire is slower, but its recoil is more difficult to control compared to the R-301. Players will need to master the recoil of the Flatline to perform well with it. The Hipfire of the Flatline is good and is a solid choice for close-quarter fights.

The Flatline is seen in many of the best loadouts inApex Legends, and this will only increase as the weapon stands to be among the best. The gun has fast reloads and a DPS of 180. The Flatline is a powerful weapon if the player can control its recoil. The weapon excels at medium-range fights and can be used in single-fire mode for far-ranged shots.

2HAVOC Rifle

The existence of the Havoc is a testament to the diversity of assault rifles inApex Legends. The Havoc will be at a disadvantage until players can locate a Turbocharger. The Turbocharger is currently thebest Hop-up in Apex Legends. The Turbocharger is hard to find due to its gold tier rarity, but it is essential as it removes the initial delay when firing the Havoc. Once players master the recoil control, the Havoc can easily knock back players who are careless and shatter shields from a distance.

The Havoc has excellent hip-fire accuracy and is reliable for close-quarter fights. Mobility legends will get the best use out of a Havoc equipped with a Turbocharger as they will benefit from its close and medium range potential. The large magazine size of the Havoc goes up to 36 bullets and will come in handy in every fight. The Havoc loses one point of damage when equipped with a Turbocharger and has a DPS of 190.

1Nemesis

While it is the newest addition to assault rifles, the Nemesis quickly became the best weapon for medium-ranged fights. The Nemesis largely shifted the assault rifle meta and has causedplayers to want the Nemesis nerfedas it is too powerful. The Nemesis dishes out lots of damage, but the issue falls with its recoil. The recoil is far too easy for the damage the gun deals.

Once the Nemesis is fully ramped up, it will shred through any player caught in its cross-hairs. The gun has good hip-fire accuracy and only one major disadvantage. Its reload times are slightly longer compared to other assault rifles. Unlike the Havoc, the Nemesis does not have an initial delay as it begins firing instantly. The Nemesis has a DPS that starts at 180 and ramps up to 196.
