As many fans of Respawn Entertainment are aware,Apex Legendsis a battle royale title closely connected with the world ofTitanfallandTitanfall 2. The two series are connected heavily through in-universe lore andTitanfallhas influencedApex Legends' gameplayheavily in a lot of ways, in terms of movement and overall gunplay and feel.

Though, there still has not been an abundance of direct crossover content regardingTitanfallandApex Legends, with the addition of Titans being an oft rumored addition to the battle royale. Unfortunately for those hoping to see the giant mechs inApex Legends, the game’s game director Chad Grenier all but confirms there are no current plans to bring Titans intoApex.

The confirmation itself comes straight from Grenier’s personal Twitter account in response to player feedback. The player in question expressed concern over the dynamic changes that introducing Titan gameplay toApex Legendswould bring. The feedback came as a result of a recent developer panel forApex LegendsconfirmingTitanfallcontentfor Season 9, which Grenier was a part of. However, while Grenier said a “ton” ofTitanfallcontent would be coming toApex Legendsin the future, Grenier’s Twitter post clarifies that the Titans themselves are not currently part of that content.

Specifically, Grenier says, “We don’t have any plans to put Titans inApex, at least in our current roadmap.” The statement seems very cut and dry, considering Grenier could have been much more coy about the upcoming content if Titans were actually in the cards for the next season ofApex Legends.Rumors surrounding Titans inApex Legendshave been circulating since the game’s release in 2019, though Respawn has denied these rumors consistently since. Still, it doesn’t seem like the idea of introducing them has ever fully died as Grenier makes a point to mention that Titans could still be added toApex"someday in another mode."

While the addition ofTitanfallcontent coming next season is a very interesting premise, it certainly highlights a clear split in Respawn’s fanbase. There are the diehard battle royal fans who love what Respawn has done withApex Legends, and there are those players who love the focused multiplayer experience thatTitanfallandTitanfall 2provided. SomeTitanfallfans were fairly crestfallen with the announcement ofApex Legends, as many saw it as confirmation that fans would likely never see anotherTitanfallgame from Respawn. Still, manyTitanfallfans are vocal about wanting another entryeven withApex Legendsgoing strong.

Though it’s a shame that another entry in theTitanfallseries looks doubtful, there is still a lot of DNA shared betweenTitanfallandApex Legends. While yes, the two multiplayer titles are fundamentally different, they have a fair amount of similarities as well. In fact,Apex Legendsoriginally included Titansand wall running very early in development. Hopefully, some of thatTitanfallcontent coming in Season 9 appeases many of theTitanfallfans still playingApex Legends.

Apex Legendsis out now for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
