As of this writing, The Game Awards is five days away and every rumor or leak out there is going to be contextualized by it. For example, many are hopingBioShockwill be at The Game Awards, but several other rumors suggest it won’t be revealed until next year. It remains to be seen, but it’s impossible for theserumors to escape The Game Awardsas a potential reveal time.
That doesn’t stop the rumor mill that drives the games industry, however. WhetherBioShock 4is at The Game Awards, is surprisingly revealed early next year, or waits for E3 2022, fans are dying to see more. Now, new rumors from reliable sources put a lot ofBioShock 4on the table.

During a Patreon-only video, Colin Moriarty recently posted some details about the upcoming BioShock game, and VGC’s own sources were able to back it up. Moriarity claims thatBioShock 4will take place in the 1960s in a fictional Antarctic City, called Borealis. It’s worth mentioning another recent rumor that said thenewBioShockgame would actually be titledBioShock: Isolation, and whether building off one another or not, it’s the perfect title for a city in this polar region.
Moriarity also states thatthe game will be tied, narratively, to previousBioShockgames, and that it is scheduled to release next year, 2022. The former likely means a connection of themes and elements that defined the past games, and that’s incredibly important as the new developer is aware that this newBioShockwill be compared to the original creator, Ken Levine. He is currently working on a new game, but developer Cloud Chamber is composed of severalBioShockvets nonetheless.
There’s aBioShockwebsiteonline, appearing after the game was confirmed, that says to “stay tuned.” The URL incorporates the phrase, “there’s always a lighthouse” and, as many know, that’s a strong narrative tie-in. And, if these rumors are true, 2022 will be a big year for the franchise.
It’s beentwo years since the newBioShockgame was confirmedand not a single solid piece of information has come out about it. As this rumor suggests, it could be that fans lean more soon and, by this time next year, are actually playingBioShock: Isolationor whatever it is called.
