Summary
Horror game developerBloober Teamis said to be working on a project with Nintendo currently known as Project M, but it is apparentlynotrelated to the mysterious “Emio” game that Nintendo teased recently.Bloober Teamhas established itself as one of the premiere horror game developers in the industry, producing popular games like theLayers of Fearseries andThe Medium.
Bloober Team’s horror ventures have been so successful, in fact, that the studio has been entrusted by Konami to handle theSilent Hill 2remake. TheSilent Hill 2remakeis easily Bloober Team’s biggest and highest-profile project to date, so it will be exciting to see how it stacks up to the original release. Horror fans will find out when theSilent Hill 2remake launches on October 8, but that’s not the only game that Bloober Team has in the works.

It’s been confirmed that Bloober Team is working on something mysterious called “Project M,” which is aiming for release on Nintendo “platforms.” This has led to speculation that the game may also be in the works for both the existing Nintendo Switch and theNintendo Switch successor console, but that has yet to be confirmed. What we do know about the game is that Project M has a smaller budget than most Bloober Team titles and that it will be announced later this year. Project M was mentioned within days of Nintendo releasing a bizarre horror game teaser, which led some to assume that Project M and Nintendo’s horror game are the same thing.
Project M and Emio Seem to Be Separate Projects
While this could very well be the case, IGN has cited sources that claim Project M and Emio are actually two separate projects. Since next to nothing is known about either game in any official capacity, though, all we can do is speculate for now. Hopefully, more information is shared sooner rather than later, sohorror fans on Switchknow exactly what to expect.
As far as Emio goes,Nintendo released a brief teaser trailershowing a man wearing a paper bag with a smiley face drawn on it. The creepy trailer didn’t reveal anything substantial about the project, though age rating boards have since revealed that the game will be tackling some heavy subject matter, including suicide and domestic abuse. It’s rare for Nintendo to dip its toes in the horror genre, and so it will be very interesting to see what shape these projects take.
