Golden keys inBorderlands 3are a great way for players to get level-appropriate gear that can be beneficial in any playthrough, but that system may get better for players– if a new leak is true. According to leaks, players may be greeted with a Diamond loot chest in a future update, which would provide better gear than opening theGolden Chest with golden keys.
The leak comes from DelusionPhantom, aBorderlands 3player who previously went viral for requesting the feature toslap the butt of Zane’s Digi-Clone, as well as leaking information for the Handsome Jackpot DLC. The source claims that the Diamond loot chest was discovered upon inspection of the game’s files through a program called UModel.

When looking at files labeled IN-WORLD and MAP ICONS, there appear to be files that are labeled as ERIDIAN GATE OPEN and ERIDIAN GATE CLOSED that have a direct relation to the Diamond loot chest. According to DelusionPhantom, they state that Tannis has some cut audio in which she references some Eridian Gates that contain the same icon in the files as the Diamond loot chest icon.
In the files, there appear to be leaks of other cut content, such as vehicles that may come to the game at a later time, as well as information about anupcoming DLC forBorderlands 3. There isn’t much else at the moment to conclude what the Diamond chest is or what it may do, but it does sound interesting.
If the leaks actually turn into officially implemented features, maybe the Diamond loot chest will have at least one guaranteed legendary for the player. Going even further, maybe the chest can be a cool reward for beating a tough activity that drops a guaranteed anointed legendary item to use.
Although nothing is confirmed at the moment, the Diamond loot chest could be another endgame loot source for players to have an easier timecreating a buildfor their vault hunter. There are plenty of more hidden goodies that DelusionPhantom notices in theBorderlands 3files if players wish to check out their post. For those who wish to wait for official info, there will be a Gearbox panel at PAX East where they may potentially speak about the second main DLC forBorderlands 3.
