While theBorderlandsseries has expanded to include several planets, Pandora will likely always be the one that is the most special in the eyes of fans. Housing the first and second games, and part of the third, the desert planet was expanded to include different regions and climates - and oneBorderlandsfan has sought to capture everything.
Pandora was essentially a prison crafted to house The Destroyer, a deadly monster that served as the final boss of the originalBorderlandsandBorderlands 3. This explains the many deadly creatures scattered across the planet, as they exist both tobring adventurers to Pandoraand scare them away. This is also the explanation for the planet’s random climate, something that became less and less predictable as the series progressed.

With Pandora’s climate always changing, it is not too shocking that theBorderlandsplanetfeatures so many conflicting maps. According to Reddit user Ubiquitouch, this has made the process of making a proper map extremely difficult. While they do clarify that it is a work in progress, as they only haveBorderlands 2andBorderlands 3locations represented, the Reddit user is planning to add points of interest from the original game andTales from the Borderlands.
The project is part of anotherBorderlandscreation, with the fan confirming that a “Starfinder game” based on the franchise is in the works. While they had to take some artistic liberty, they do clarify that most of the placement came down to map comparisons and “ripping files directly fromBL3.” Clearly, the fan has put a lot of care into this map, and some commenters have already suggested where to place originalBorderlandslocations. However, most are intrigued by the size of the Eridium scar.
While Ubiquitouch did have to “eyeball its placement and size,” its portrayal certainly seems to be accurate. As seen when players view the planet from orbit inBorderlands 3, the scar covers a decent bit of the map. One small vein is used forEridiumBlight, and the iconic location of Fyrestone is seen nearby. On the other side of the map, Ascension Bluff can be seen, with areas like Carnivora also represented. Southern Shelf is set near some water, a wise decision on the map maker’s part. Each location will have green, brown, or white textures on the map to represent their climates when the map is fully complete.
While it remains to be seen if anyTiny Tina’s Wonderlandsfanswill recreate the game’s overworld map once that game releases, it would likely be a much easier feat than what this fan has had to do. With a moving 3D model of the planet also included, theBorderlandsfan is putting a lot of effort into getting the strange layout of Pandora right.
