Activision and Infinity Ward launched season 3 last week toCall of Duty: Modern Warfareplayers, bringing an influx of new content into the game. In addition to new maps, operators, game modes, and things to unlock, Season 3 also contained agood amount of fixes inside of the update. However, it appears that one major issue managed to slip through and is not negatively impacting the Domination game mode.
The latest bug comes from theCall of Duty: Modern WarfaresubReddit where a user posted a video showing a very strange way that the game calculated the score in a Domination match. In the clip, the user’s team is able to capture and hold the B flag, giving the team two out of the three points. At this point, the team was 7 points behind, though with two flags, the score deficit would be nullified. However, that never occurs as the game almost fails to recognize the change in flag ownership. Instead, the user’s team is never able to overtake the opposing team as the score eventually increases and they ultimately lose even though they’ve held both flags for the majority of the match.

While it’s unknown what has ultimately caused this bug, the original poster has an interesting theory. Blame could be placed on the new Deathmatch Domination mode, which combines the rule sets from Domination and Team Deathmatch. Instead of only earning point for capturing and holding three locations on a map, enemy kills are also factored in. This mode makes matches go by faster as teams are acquiring points much more quickly then normal.
Why is that relevant to the current bug? The original poster theorizes that thenew ruleset of Deathmatch Dominationmay have also impacted the classic Domination mode in some way. However, another user indicated that the bug was reported prior to Deathmatch Domination getting introduced as a match they were involved in had a similar issue. Their team held two of the three objectives for nearly the entire match, though the final score was somehow much closer than it should have been. Others have also shown support with examples of Domination scoring not working quite as intended as well.
While this issue is no doubt disappointing to some players, Infinity Ward has yet to comment on the issue so a fix isn’t likely coming anytime soon. For now, progress continues to be made onadding Mastery Camoto the game along with Gunsmith Customs, which are expected sometime in the mid-season update. Many fans are hoping Infinity Ward really focuses and cracks down on the amount of cheaters currently plaguing the online experience as well as general fixes to the spawn locations on a few of the legacy maps.
