At 11pm PT on June 29,Call of Duty: Modern Warfarefans can look forward to the release of the big mid-season update for both the standard game and theWarzonebattle royale. TheModern Warfaremid-season update is about 20-30GB depending on platform and which version of the game players have, but while it’s got a rather large file size, it is making some significant changes. This includes some pretty massive weapon nerfs, with popular weapons like the Grau and MP5 both impacted.
As previously teased, theModern Warfaremid-season updatenerfs the Grau, mainly by reducing its damage range and increasing its high frequency recoil. Additionally, the Tempus 26.4" Archangel and FSS 20.8" Nexus barrels that players can equip to their Graus will have reduced recoil compensation and decreased range, making them far less effective. The MP5, meanwhile, is getting decreased damage range, decreased 10mm damage range, reduced long range damage with its 10mm ammo, and a recoil increase when using 10mm ammo. Needless to say, these changes could potentially shake up theModern Warfaremultiplayer meta significantly, though fans will need to see how they work in action first.

Meanwhile,Infinity Warddidn’t just nerf weapons with the newModern Warfareupdate. For example, the MK2 Carbine has been buffed, with faster movement speed and increased damage range. The Dragonuv sniper rifle has also been buffed, with players now able to aim down the sights faster and have a faster rate of fire.
It should be noted that these weapon balance changes apply to bothModern Warfareand theWarzonebattle royale. Considering this, players of both games may need to adjust their loadouts accordingly.
Besides making weapon balance changes, theModern Warfaremid-season update also adds a brand new weapon to the mix. Upon downloading the update,Modern Warfareplayers can add theRytec AMR sniper rifleto their arsenals. To do so, they can purchase it from the shop, or they can complete a new challenge.
While thisbigCall of Duty: Modern Warfaremid-season updateis rather significant, it’s far from the last update coming toModern Warfareas part of Season 4. In fact, it’s likely that Infinity Ward will stick to its weekly updates forModern WarfareandWarzone, so fans can expect the new content to keep coming on a regular basis.
