Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0is launching later this year with a brand-new battle royale map for players to battle it out on. Activision has been hyping its big Call of Duty Next event for weeks now, promising to pull the curtain back on the highly-anticipatedCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2multiplayer and theCall of Duty: Warzone 2battle royale. Activision has held true to that promise, officially revealingModern Warfare 2multiplayer, theWarzone 2map, and the BR’s release date.
As announced at the Call of Duty Next event,Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s release date is November 16, coinciding with the launch ofModern Warfare 2Season 1. Like its predecessor,Call of Duty: Warzone 2will be completely free-to-play at launch.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s Al Mazrah map is the biggestCall of Dutybattle royale map to date. It features 18 points of interest, made up of a mix of brand-new areas and locations that should be familiar to longtimeCall of Dutyfans. For example, the Airport location is based on thefan favorite Terminal multiplayer mapthat was made famous in the original 2009Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2will be making some major changes to theWarzoneformula, which were touched on at the Call of Duty Next event.The Gulagwill be returning, giving players a chance to earn their way back into a match after they’ve been killed, but with a twist. This time around, the Gulag will be a 2v2 affair, with players paired up with a random other person in the match. There will sometimes be AI opponents to deal with in the Gulag as well, which should make things even more challenging.
While the core experience will still be about player-versus-player skirmishes, AI bots will play a big role inCall of Duty: Warzone 2. Bots will be found inCall of Duty: Warzone 2’s Strong Holds, and they will also be featured in the DMZ game mode. Activision stopped short of detailing what fans can expect from theDMZ game mode, but it did confirm that it exists and will be tied toWarzone 2, available to play at launch alongside the standard game modes.
