Last month, Capcom renewed the trademark forDino Crisis, giving fans hope that the dinosaur-themed survival-horror franchise could be making a comeback. Nothing official has been announced to date, but a new rumor making the rounds has some thinking that Capcom is truly moving forward with a newDino Crisisgame.

The rumor stems from AestheticGamer, a Twitter user who has accurately leaked Capcom news in the past, mainly in regards to theResident Evilfranchise. AestheticGamer recently leaked some info about the future of theResident Evilfranchise, revealing thatdevelopment onResident Evil 8was rebootedand that a newResident Evilgame is set to launch in 2021. AestheticGamer also teased that Capcom is planning to reboot some of its other games “in the same vein” as theResident Evil 2and3remakes using RE Engine, and that those reboots should be seen “pretty soon.”

Capcom has a lot of franchises under its belt, but only a couple really seem to fit the bill. One possibility is that Capcom is planning to reboot itsOnimushafranchise, but it seems the more likely scenario is that aDino Crisisreboot is in the cards. After all,Dino Crisisis very similar toResident Evilin terms of gameplay, and so it would make sense to create a new version of the game using the RE Engine.

Something else to note is that Capcom recently had members of theResident EvilAmbassador Program test a new game. The last time that happened,Resident Evil 3remake was announced just months later. Considering this, it’s possible that whatever new reboot Capcom is pursuing next could be announced much earlier than expected.

While aDino Crisisremake or reboot may be the most desired by fans, it’s always possible that the games AestheticGamer is referring to are something else entirely.Rumors of aDino Crisisremakehave persisted for years only for nothing to materialize, and that could very well be the same situation here.

Then again,Capcomitself has indicated that it plans on making remakes and reboots a big part of its strategy moving forward, and it has just about run out ofResident Evilgames to remake.Dino Crisisseems like the next logical step, but fans will just have to stay tuned to find out for sure.

Dino Crisisis out now for PC, PS1, and Dreamcast.
