It looked as if their wish would be granted when in April 2022, Square Enix launchedChrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, which was meant to be an improved edition of the original game. Featuring a bonus story, HD character graphics, higher-quality sound effects, toggleable enemy encounters, an enhanced screen resolution, and an automatic battle system, the remaster looked to be a worthy adaptation of the originalChrono Cross. While it has not yet been given an official date, the update promises to bring a variety of changes such as framerate enhancements, modifications toPip’s growth system, and fixes for other miscellaneous bugs.

It will be interesting to see how the patch will affect Pip’s mechanics. The most interesting thing about Pip is that he can keep evolving throughout the whole game. The Elements Pip utilizes in battleand the Elements that are used on him determine his next form. However, besides the fact that Pip’s evolutions can easily be botched by players, he is also the subject of an infamous bug that makes him lose the stats that he gained by evolving.

While the update sounds like excellent news forChrono Cross’ fans, it begs the question of why it took so long to arrive. It seems like some fans are grateful for the fixes, while others are condemning the fact that the game received no other support until now, other than the day one patch. Hopefully, the newChrono Crossremasterupdate will bring a new level of enjoyment to the game and satisfy the fans of the series.
