While others may take the top spot, the Type 99 isn’t to be sniffed at and offers something different to the game’s other sniper rifles. It may also be familiar to fans of olderCall of Dutygames, making it one to check out for long-time players.

What is Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Type 99?
The Type 99 is yet another returningCall of Dutyweapon inCall of Duty: Vanguard, although players may not immediately recognise it by its name. As is the case with the 3-Line Rifle, better known as the Mosin-Nagant, the Type 99 has previously gone by a different name inCall of Dutygames. The Type 99 is a sniper that may be familiar to fans ofCall of Duty: World at War’smultiplayeror campaign as the Arisaka bolt-action rifle. The Arisaka inWorld at Warmay not have been the best weapon in the game, but it was one of the multiplayer’s first unlocked sniper rifles, so fans will be well familiar with it.
The Type 99 has not been a popular choice inCall of Duty: Vanguard’smultiplayerto this point, with fans of snipers instead opting for the Kar98K or the 3-Line Rifle. The Type 99’s lack of popularity comes down to its low firepower, however it can be a useful weapon for snipers with decent aim. Unlike the other two snipers, the Type 99 is on the lighter side, and as such, offers decent mobility and speed. The Type 99 is the perfect sniper for a rushing playstyle, as players should have no issue getting around the map with it in hand. While it may not be the right weapon for everyone, in the right hands it can be a great choice.
Best Attachments for the Type 99
As is the case with every weapon, dipping intoCall of Duty: Vanguard’sgunsmithcan greatly improve the Type 99, gearing it towards more players. Despite being a useful weapon in the right hands already, the Type 99 can be improved in a number of areas to make it that bit easier to use. In particular, players should be looking to improve damage range and bullet velocity to try and cut out some of those pesky hit markers that may turn many away from using the Type 99. While some players may still be better served using the likes ofVanguard’s3-Line Rifle or Kar 98K, with attachments, the Type 99 can rival them in usefulness.
There are a handful of attachments that should be a go-to forCall of Dutyplayers using the Type 99. Unfortunately, none ofCall of Duty: Vanguard’sOperatorshave the Type 99 as their favorite weapon, so there are no XP boosts to be had when unlocking them. The F8 Stabilizer muzzle is one such attachment, which does slightly decrease sprint to fire speed, but also offers improvements to accuracy and damage range. Next up is the Sakura 776MM barrel and the 8MM Klauser 5 Round Mags which will offer improved bullet velocity, range, and damage. This should make the weapon slightly better at hitting one-hit kills, and adding the Vital proficiency will improve the area for critical hits, making headshots that much easier. The Type 99 can be one of the better weapons in the game, but it may need a few attachments to get there.
