Another Xbox Games Showcase has come and gone. While fans were largely looking forward to more details onXbox Series X gameslikeHalo Infinite,Microsoft rewarded its Xbox One fans with details about upcoming games for its incumbent console. One such title is the highly anticipatedCrossfire X,which received a new campaign trailer today.

Today’s trailer was one of the game’s first major reveals since the initial November 2019 announcement that South Korean developer Smilegate Entertainment was teaming up withAlan Wakecreators Remedy EntertainmentforCrossfire X’s new single-player campaign.

According to the new campaign world premiere trailer,Crossfire Xwill center around the super-soldier Louis Torres as he faces off against the sinister military corporation Global Risk in an all-out war between private military collectives. The trailer proceeds to show off Torres' combat capabilities through FPS gameplay.

Brief interlaced cutscenes and voice clips screaming about “the ghost” also teased the protagonist’s stealth abilities. One scene also briefly introduced Blacklist, another faction in the conflict. The trailer confirmed that the game would release this year for Xbox One and for Xbox Series X as one of twenty-two console launch exclusives.

Fan reception to the trailer was largely positive. Several players said that they were hyped because the trailer built on their positive experience with theCrossfire Xbeta in June.Remedy Entertainment’s fans on Twitter expressed their excitement about seeing the developer’s first major project sinceControlin 2019. BecauseCrossfirebegan its life on PC, several PC fans also noted their excitement for the game. The gaming accessory company HyperX also weighed in to share its excitement for the trailer. Although some criticized the disclaimer thatCrossfire X’s “free-to-play” multiplayer campaign even though it required Xbox Live Gold to play it, most people seem dazzled by the high definition
