Summary
Let’s face it, the villagers inAnimal Crossingare the best part of the game. These adorable little villagers are a huge part of what makes the series so popular, and something about their designs makes players just adore them. With their catchphrases and personalities, their cuteness is what motivates players to complete their quests and bring them gifts.
Every player has their favorite villager. Whether they’re cute, sporty, or snooty, each animal has their unique charm and style, so, luckily,New Horizonslets players have a say in who leaves the town. Across five console games and several spin-offs, there are hundreds of villagers to choose from, but some of them easily rank among the cutest in the entire franchise.

Updated August 12, 2025, by Blaise Santi:This month celebrated the 5-year anniversary of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but fans of the franchise are already looking towards the future. Since Nintendo’s announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2, Animal Crossing fanatics areanticipating a new entry in the series on the console, though judging by the nearly 8-year wait between mainline entries prior to the release of New Horizons, there might be a lot more waiting in store. Thankfully, Animal Crossing fans are pretty used to waiting at this point, so in the interest of walking down memory lane, this list takes a look at five additional villagers from the series who are some of the cutest in the Animal Crossing series.

Ribbot has been a part of theAnimal Crossingfranchise since the very beginning in spite of the fact that, technically, he’s not even an animal! He’s one of four villagers who are robots, and he is easily the cutest of them all. In previous games, the interior design of his home looked like the moon, but in recent games, Ribbot opts for a more scientific, lab-inspired home.

Although his early appearances in the franchise may have been a bit unsettling due to his robotic nature, more recent appearances have made Ribbot look as friendly as any other villager! However, players probably wouldn’t want to get into a weightlifting contest with him.

Octopi are a rare species in theAnimal Crossingfranchise. There are only four total octopi villagers: Cephalobot, Marina, Octavian, and Zucker. Fittingly, his appearance seems inspired by Japanese cuisine, specifically “takoyaki,” which is especially prominent due to the sauce-like texture on his head.
Zucker’s outfit also feels appropriate to this theme, looking like some sort of sushi chef. Of all the food-based villagers in theAnimal Crossinggames, Zucker’s design feels the most inspired, and it also helps that, as a villager, he’s quite laid-back and friendly.

As far as chill villagers go inAnimal Crossing, it’s hard to get cooler than Stu, a blue bull who originated in the original Nintendo 64Animal Forestbut has had a few absences in titles likeWild WorldandCity Folk. However, as ofNew Leaf, Stu’s interior design tastes are a lot more interesting, taking after an alleyway or sidewalk.

Though his home might not be the coziest, Stu’s a very friendly and laid-back neighbor to have on the island. He might be a little one-track-minded when it comes to thinking about food, but given how well he gets along with other villagers, it’s hard to blame him for his lazy personality.

Piper’s especially a great villager for those who love neighbors who love to play! Although her original design was much more traditionally adorable, Piper’s newer redesign may intimidate some players who might assume she’s rather sassy or lazy. The opposite is true; when players make Piper their friend, they’ll see she’s as chipper as they come!
Some may find her forgetful, but it’s ultimately hard to leave a conversation with Piper and not feel charmed. The only villagers she struggles to get along with are those who are traditionally cranky, meaning she’s great to keep around if players have a happy-go-lucky group of neighbors.

Stitches may look like a bear cub, but design-wise, he’s more of a stuffed animal — a one-of-a-kind villager in theAnimal Crossingseries. Even the interior design of his home resembles a child’s playroom, though inNew Horizons,it’s been slightly upgradedto appear a little bit older. Nonetheless, Stitches is about as adorable as it gets.
If the character’s childlike design isn’t enough to convince players of his cuteness, just watch him interact with others who have that lazy personality. Their conversations about superheroes and comic books will be especially adorable!

Goldieis about as classic as it gets forAnimal Crossingvillagers. She made her first appearance inDoubutsu no Mori, the Japan-exclusive first game in the franchise. Though she has a Normal personality, players who are lucky enough to welcome her to their village will find her a very reliable and pleasant neighbor.
It’s also rare thatplayers will miss getting to spend time with Goldie, considering she wakes up at 5 am every morning and goes to bed at 1 am. A 20-hour day is plenty of time to get things done, but that just goes to show how much Goldie loves the outdoors!

Sporkmay have the Lazy personality, but he’s always down to roughhouse with other villagers! He also gets along with many different personality types among the villagers, even outside special events or holidays.
Although some players have detested Spork for his generally greedy love of food, there’s no denying that in recent games he’s one of the cutest Pig characters. InAnimal Crossing: Pocket Camp, he’s even a lover of books, showing that his laziness doesn’t mean he isn’t productive in other ways.

Another villager who has been inevery game of theAnimal Crossingfranchise, Bunnie is one of the cutest and most fashionable neighbors a player can encounter. She collects pink furniture, making her an easy neighbor to buy presents for.
As far as neighbors go, Bunnie is fairly low maintenance and gets along with almost every personality type. Some players may get annoyed by her talkative personality, but others will feel lucky to have such a positive influence on their island.

Some players may seeColtonwith his Smug personality type and think he’s too pretentious for their village. However, those who get the chance to know him will become endeared by his cute design, resembling some kind of Disney prince with his red cape and blonde hair. Sadly, he’s one of the few personality types who can only move into a village after the player becomes mayor inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons.
Even Colton’s home will inspire jealousy in other players with its sleek design and expensive decor. Thankfully, Colton is welcoming enough to visitors to make him seem a lot more down-to-earth than his cute design might imply.

Uponfirst meetingBlanchethe ostrich, a lot of players might find her too proud and arrogant, which is a result of her Snooty personality type. However, as time goes on, Blanche will warm up to players, so only those who really commit to knowing her will appreciate her endearing design and personality.
What makes Blanche especially great to have as a neighbor on the island is how well she gets along with Cranky personality types, who can often become naturally isolated from others. Plus, her adorable black kimono gives her a very laid-back feeling design-wise that’s a huge contrast to her Snooty behavior.
