Cyberpunk 2077has finally arrived, and CD Projekt Red has seen an incredible amount of success in terms of its early sales. The latest statistic released onCyberpunk 2077is particularly impressive, as it sees the game climbing to the top of the UK sales charts and becoming the second-biggest retail launch in the country this year.
With each new statistic released on the futuristic RPG, it becomes easier to recognize howCyberpunk 2077turned a profit on day one. People around the world were clearly excited to play the game, and with it finally releasing after numerous delays, plenty of fans around the world have already paid the price of admission. The game beat outThe Last of Us 2in the UK, the previous second place holder, and only one game still stands aboveCyberpunk 2077in terms of commercial success at launch.

Therecently releasedFIFA 21remains more successful thanCyberpunk 2077, something that should not be too surprising given the franchise’s success in the UK over the last several years. Still,Cyberpunk 2077’s placement is impressive, especially considering it beat outCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warin the “new releases” category for its launch week. WithAnimal Crossing: New Horizonstaking a third-place spot,Cyberpunk 2077sits among successful company.
It is worth noting thatCyberpunk 2077’s second-place spot is purely based on the sales of physical copies, as digital copies sold are not tracked in GfK polls. With most PC downloads ofCyberpunk 2077being digital, a huge chunk of sales numbers is likely being left out. As such, the chart is mainly tracking physical copies on theconsole versions ofCyberpunk 2077, with the game selling 60 percent of the tracked physical copies on PS4 and 35 percent on the Xbox One. The remaining 5 percent were PC physical editions.
Cyberpunk 2077has surpassedWorld of Warcraft’s PC sales record. With the game also boasting the highest number of active Steam players ever active at a single time, plenty of people are going to be exploring Night City over the next several days. That said, the game’s bugs and performance issues have been heavily criticized in the press.
WithCD Projekt Red’s stock droppingfollowing discussion of the game’s issues, how well it performs going forward will be interesting to see. For now though, the story of V and Johnny Silverhand has proven to be enough to secureCyberpunk 2077a top sales position in the UK and other parts of the world.
