Behaviour Interactive is hinting at big things to come inDead by Daylight’s future, saying that there are some “surprise” collaborations being worked on. In many ways,Dead by Daylightowes its success to its effort to create partnerships with horror properties and other games. The pipeline of collaboration killers, which include Leatherface, Freddy Krueger, Ghostface, and Michael Myers, hasn’t slowed down over the years, either. It seems Behaviour doesn’t plan on changing that going forward, either.
SinceDead by Daylight’s launch in June 2016, Behaviour Interactive has continued to pursue collaboration content for its asymmetric horror game. The original game launched with just three killers, all of which were original releases. But it would be just months later whenMichael Myers ofHalloweenwould join as part ofDead by Daylight’s major Chapter DLC release, allowing the horror film villain to stand apart. In the years since, Behaviour would continue to use this style of Chapter DLC to make each Killer’s release a spectacle full of lore and fun beyond just a new character.

Speaking with Dexerto, Behaviour head of partnerships Mathieu Cote says to expectDead by Daylightto continue this trend into the future. He acknowledges that while “the shortlist is getting shorter,” the “range of options is wider than it’s ever been.” Which is to say that while horror options are becoming more limited,Dead by Daylightis finding new opportunities. Examples likeEvil Dead’s Ash Williams, which Cote refers to as “comedy,” and theAttack on Titananime collaboration are what he has in mind.
What those future collaborations may be will have to remain a mystery, however. Cote isn’t giving away any ofDead by Daylight’s secrets. What he is willing to say, though, is that players are going to be “surprised” by what the company has planned.
While Cote is hinting at some surprising additions, that doesn’t mean thatDead by Daylightwon’t continue its past efforts, too. Asked ifDead by Daylightwill continue to have collaborations with other video games, Cote says “certainly.” He believes there are “a lot of really cool” gaming characters he thinks are perfect forDead by Daylight.
Dead by Daylightplayers still have a long list of Killers and crossover horror franchises they want to see in-game.Alien’s Xenomorphis a constant request, as is Pennywise ofIt. AFive Nights at Freddy’spartnership is also popular, especially with a movie in the works. Whether those are possible or not, only Behavior knows. It will be fun to find out what’s next, though.
Dead by Daylightis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
