Destiny 2has confirmed that Titans and Hunters will get their own “Necrotic Grip” in the future. Necrotic Grip is an exotic gauntlet that Warlocks have had access to since theDestiny 2expansion Beyond Light was released, and Hunters and Titans are likely getting their own version in a future update.
Though the drop rate for Necrotic Grip has been low since the gauntlets were added toDestiny 2, many players have already utilized its ability to clear rooms of enemies rather quickly. The exotic perk tied toDestiny 2’s Necrotic Gripallows Warlocks to poison one enemy with a melee attack and, presuming they don’t die, that hostile mob can then go on to infect others around it. Because of how well the Warlock exotic has been received by the community and some fan fervor to see it on other characters, Bungie has stated that it wants to expand the idea to Titans and Hunters.

During a recent Q&A, Bungie confirmed that it would like to bringDestiny 2exoticsto the Titan and Hunter that have similar abilities to the Necrotic Grip. Because the Necrotic Grip pairs well with the Weapons of Sorrow, it’s likely that the Titan and Hunter counterparts will be optimal when matched with a specific gear set as well. While Bungie intends to bring the Necrotic Grip concept to the otherDestiny 2classes, the developer has also noted that it wants to maintain the rare and “a little bit hidden” feeling that the items give players upon looting them.
Bungie has noted the “special connection” that players feel with their exotic items which suggests that it’s taking feedback from the Warlock community on the best approach to implementing the Necrotic Grip ability with Hunters and Titans. Necrotic Grip is far from the only exotic thatDestiny 2players are searching for, with The Navigator, Cenotaph Mask, and Izanagi’s Burden among the coveted items. Given that there are abilities locked behind the Hunter and TitanDestiny 2classes, this new ability for the two may result in Warlocks getting one of their skills in exchange.
DespiteNecrotic Grip giving Warlocks a unique abilitylocked behind its class inDestiny 2Beyond Light, the plan to bring the skill to Hunters and Titans may result in fewer reasons to select them. Because Titans and Hunters are set to get the ability bound to the Necrotic Grip, it’s possible that Warlocks will get a different exotic with its own special ability or one that matches alternate gear to ensure that the community is pleased.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
