WhenDestiny 2was first released, it was far from being the game that it is now; missing a lot of content that would later be added with Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken. Forsaken was an incredible expansion that added so much toDestiny 2, and to this day it is still considered one of the best additions to the entire franchise. This is because, of all the content it added ranging from bows as a new weapon archetype to a whole new enemy race in the form of theScorn, one of the highlights was Forsaken’s quest for revenge against prince Uldren Sov after he killed the beloved Cayde-6.
Uldren Sov wasn’t a new character in theDestinyfranchise, as he was involved in the story tied to the Reef andDreaming City, alongside his sister Queen Mara. Uldren’s story is one of submission to his sister, and the love and respect he nourished for her were the root cause of his downfall. His hubris, and the fact that he was inadvertently subjugated by a Taken creature known as the Voice of Riven, led to his villainy. That’s what brought Uldren to kill Cayde-6 in the first place, as he believed he was doing something noble that would help him find his sister. Uldren paid for his crimes against the Vanguard and the Awoken at the end of Forsaken when he was shot dead.

The Mystery Behind Uldren Sov’s Killer
Uldren was shot dead off-screen while facing the players' character — the Guardian — and Petra Venj, Queen Mara’s second in command. The Guardian was wielding the now-retrievedAce of Spades, the gun that once belonged to Cayde-6, while Petra Venj was wielding a sidearm that was later known as Vestian Dynasty. This is important because there was never anything official about who truly shot Uldren. The mystery, while seemingly inconsequential until now, might be something of great importance in Season of the Lost.
The identity of who shot Uldren in Forsaken matters in Season of the Lost because of how the Awoken prince was brought back to life as Crow, who later became a Guardian with no recollection of his past life. When Forsaken ended, someDestiny 2players tried discovering the identity of Uldren’s killer by comparing the shot heard off-screen to the gunshots of the Ace of Spades and Vestian Dynasty alike, but to no avail. However, because Crow has some parts of Uldren within him, and because of the events surrounding his return to the Dreaming City and Mara, things can become more complicated if he learns of his past life this Season.
Crow has learned to have respect for the Vanguard and the people of Earth, but his mentor wasOsiris ever since the events of Season of the Hunt, which is coincidentally the time when Savathun took over the Warlock, posing as him. In Season of the Lost, Savathun’s trickery was revealed, which led to Crow being confused about what she taught him and how much of that was true. Then, there is also the fact that Crow is close friends with the Guardian after the main storyline of Season of the Hunt. Lastly, Crow is now also interacting with Mara and Petra, unaware of what Uldren’s relationship was like with them.

How Crow Learning of His Past Life Can Change Everything
As such, Crow is now in a fragile state where he doesn’t know what to believe, and that state can waver so much more if he learns of his past life. Of course, if he indeed manages to know who Uldren was and what he did, this is likely to have a lasting impact on him. Furthermore, learning howUldrendied at this very time might tip the scales in different ways, all with many branching consequences.
As a matter of fact, ifCrow learns that Uldren was killed by the Guardian, the same person who freed him from Spider and became friends with, this might end up in Crow stepping away from the Vanguard and the Tower. He could end up reconnecting with Mara, who does love Uldren, but was always very detached when interacting with him in his first life. Or, this discovery could prompt Crow to seek advice from Savathun, instead, which could be much worse in the long run.
If Uldren’s killer wasPetra, though, Crow might be able to do something Uldren never could, which is to leave his ties to the Reef and the Dreaming City behind once and for all. This outcome could even make things come full circle in a way, and that’s because Uldren murdered the Hunter Vanguard, but Crow could eventually take on that role and mend Uldren’s wrongdoings. This path would also take Crow towards the Traveler’s Light more than ever before, as he could maybe let go of the parts of Uldren’s character that he carries within him.
Lastly, if Uldren was instead killed by both the Guardian and Petra, then Crow might abandon both worlds and confide in Savathun. He could become one of her commanders and trusted agents, leading up to the events ofThe Witch Queen expansionin February of next year. It would also make sense for Crow to go back to his mentor, as he might very well feel betrayed by his friends and family in ways that would cut a little too deep.
Ultimately, withBungie celebrating Forsaken’s third anniversaryonly two weeks ago, it only makes sense that the expansion is still so relevant to this day. Season of the Lost will inevitably be the springboard for The Witch Queen, and Crow’s fate as he learns of his past could change the tides of what’s to come inDestiny 2’s future.
