Xur has returned again toDestiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. This week saw the arrival of theDestiny 2 mid-season updateincluding various damage buffs for a variety of weapon types like auto rifles, pulse rifles, and more. Unfortunately, it seems to have triggered many in the community regarding a few stealth changes that initially went unreported, leaving players to figure them out for themselves.
In addition to less than favorable tweaks,Destiny 2players have also started to find themselves being randomly banned from PvP matches. Following the completion of a Crucible match and returning to Orbit, some players began reporting seeing a temporary 30-minute ban, with the message indicating that they left early. Thankfully, Bungie seems to have identified and fixed the issue, so players can continue to earn rank as normal.

In the meantime, the weekend merchant Xur has made a return to the world ofDestiny 2. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of July 04, 2025.

Where is Xur?
This weekend, players should visit Nessus as Xur is hanging out in his massive tree at Watcher’s Grave.
From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher’s Grave. Run towards the back of the zone where a massive tree is found. Jump up until players find the huge branch where the merchant is hanging out.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary toacquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.
Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Exotic Armor
Ophidian Aspect - Warlock gauntlets
This armor is subclass neutral item that enhances combat ability through its perk, Cobra Totemic. With it, players can ready weapons and reload them much faster than normal. In addition, it also extends the Warlock melee range.
Ultimately, these are solid exotics because they help improve the combat of the game, especially in PvP activities. Having extended melee range is also beneficial formany Warlock subclasses, especially players who like using Devour. This item did receive a buff all the way back in the Season 10 update which gave them an increased lunge range for all Warlock melee attacks even if the ability is on cool down. The roll this week, while technically the lowest of the trio, is still pretty solid with high Resilience and Strength, which pairs well with the melee buff the item features.

Stat Values (63 Total):
The Bombardiers - Hunter leg armor
Hunters can snag The Bombardiers this week, an exotic that was originally added to the game during the Season of the Dawn. These exotic boots come with the perk called Parting gift which leaves behind an explosive with a short fuse after dodging. Thanks to aseason 15 buff that impacted a number ofDestiny 2exotics, these now have a secondary effect that happens based on the equipped subclass. Arc blinds, Solar burns, Void suppresses, and Stasis slows enemy targets.

Ultimately, not much has changed since then. While they can be fun to use, they’re certainly not going to overtake some of the more useful exotic items currently in the game, making these an easy candidate to skip on. Still, the roll is fairly decent on them at a 64 overall with solid Mobility, Discipline, and Recovery.
Stat Values (64 Total):
An Insurmountable Skullfort - Titan helmet
An Insurmountable Skullfort is back on sale this week and remains a perfect compliment to players who favor close quarters. Transfusion Matrix is its intrinsic perk which triggers health regeneration and restores melee energy after getting a kill with an arc melee ability.
This is a solid choice, especially with therecent Arc 3.0 updatein both PvE and PvP for Earthshaker or Missile Striker Titans. The roll also comes in as the highest this week at a 65 with a very high strength. Unfortunately, it’s also another strange high mobility exotic, which isn’t typically what Titan players are looking for.

Stat Values (65 total):
Exotic Weapon
Another rare appearance this week as the Wardcliff Coil rocket launcher arrives with its unique firing mechanics. Mad Scientist allows this weapon to fire a volley of rockets instead of just one at a time like the others. Volatile Launch goes even further to make this weapon even more explosive by greatly increasing blast radius and slightly decreasing handling speed and projectile speed.
For newer players, this is a great PvE weapon, so it’s an easy recommend this week as it can handle swarms of enemies with relative ease as well as doing some big damage to PvE activity bosses as well. However, compared to some other rocket launcher choices likethe powerful and team friendly Gjallarhorn, the Wardcliff may have been upstaged as players may likely opt to use that one in the heavy slot instead.
Additional perks:
Since Season 16 removed the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions,Xur is also selling both Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale with randomized rolls. Players should visit him each weekend as he’ll be carrying different rolls.
