Xur has returned again toDestiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. With only a few days left before not only a new season, but the arrival of the nextDestiny 2expansion known as Lightfall. In fact,Destiny 2made a surprise appearance during Sony’s latest PlayStation State of Play, showing off a new trailer detailing what is likely the opening sequence of Lightfall where The Witness shows how powerful they are against the forces of Earth.

Alongside the new trailer, Bungie’s latest blog post also detailed a number of new information for the incoming Season of Defiance, including the Artifact Mods. One of the biggest changes tohow the Artifact works in Season 20is how much more customizable it is for how players deal with Champions. Destiny 2 players should find less restricting options both with the mods as well as how specific effects from each subclass can also help stun Overload, Unstoppable, and Barrier enemies.

With only a few days left, players have a limited time to locate the weekend merchant Xur who has finally arrived back inside ofDestiny 2. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of August 04, 2025.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, players can hunt for Xur on Nessus in his familiar tree.

From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher’s Grave. Run towards the back of the zone where a massive tree is found. Jump up until players find the huge branch where the merchant is hanging out.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary toacquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.

Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Destiny 2 Nezarecs Sin Exotic Helmet

Exotic Armor

Nezarec’s Sin - Warlock helmet

The Voidwalker specific helm Nezarec’s Sin is once again available from the exotic merchant. Its intrinsic perk is known as Abyssal Extractors, a void specific ability that should make Voidwalker Warlocks very happy. Essentially, any void damage kills increase ability energy recharge rate. It remains a solid pickup for Warlocks.

For those curious, this item pairs well not only with Voidwalkers, but many strong void-centric weapons currently in the game, especially with theVoid subclass rework in the 3.0 update. The roll is also pretty solid with an incredibly high Intellect stat, though to make up for it, Mobility, Discipline, and Strength are nearly nonexistent.

Lucky Pants - Hunter leg armor

The hand cannon specific exotic Lucky Pants are available at Xur this weekend. Its intrinsic perk, Illegally Modded Holster, loads one round into the chamber of stowed hand cannons after a precision hit. In addition, hand cannons ready faster and have a bonus to accuracy after switching to them, which make these very useful for all of theHand Cannons thatDestiny 2has.

Destiny 2 Hawkmoon Hand Cannon

For non-hand cannon users, these are an easy item to skip this week. They’re a bit specific, so they’re certainly not going to replace the current meta exotics that Hunters have access to, though the roll on these this week are pretty solid at a 64. At the very least, they’re likely better than the collection roll version.

Antaeus Wards- Titan leg armor

The Antaeus Wards are all about mobility that pairs with an interesting, albeit somewhat tricky mechanic. The intrinsic perk Reflective Vents improves the player’s slide while also reflects incoming projectiles during the slide, though it was nerfed last year toremove the super energy gain on reflection.

The ability may require a slight adjustment period to get the timing down, but once the mechanic is figured out, these boots can be pretty valuable. Not only can players reflect bullets, but they are also capable of reflecting supers like Blade Barrage and Nova Bomb. The roll is the highest of the trio as well coming in at a 65 with a solid recovery and discipline to go along with it.

Exotic Weapon

Oddly enough, Xur has brought back the Lord of Wolves shotgun, an exotic that was just on sale a couple of weeks ago. At one point, the Lord of Wolves shotgun was one of the most used weapons in the game thanks to a bug that caused the weapon to basically just melt enemies. WhileBungie let the gun run wild in Cruciblea little longer than it would have liked, the gun is currently nowhere near as fearsome as it once was. Even still, it remains a strong close quarters weapon and is worth a look for those who don’t yet have it.

Its Intrinsic perk is called Shrapnel Launcher which causes the gun to fire a powerful short-range burst of solar damage. However, its trait called Release the Wolves is what really enhances this weapon’s potency. Players that hold the reload button can swap to a longer, more powerful burst.
