Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary toacquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.

Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Exotic Armor

Wings of Sacred Dawn - Warlock chest armor

Last seen well over a year ago, the Wings of Sacred Dawn chest armor is back in stock with Xur this weekend. The exotic comes with the perk called Tome of Dawn, which suspends aDawnblade Warlockin the air while aiming their weapon. In turn, this improves airborne accuracy, reduces incoming flinch, and grants damage resistance. Weapon hits extend this effect’s duration, and it provides a large benefit to the airborne effectiveness stat of all weapons.

Destiny 2 Hawkmoon Hand Cannon

Ultimately, this exotic is a tough one to recommend largely due to the fact that it makes the player a very easy target for enemies being exposed in midair without any cover. The benefits are nice, but this isn’t going to replace some of the other top tier Warlock exotics. However, the stat roll this week is pretty great coming in at a very high 66 total and individual rolls which are fairly balanced overall. Intellect and Recovery are the big winners this week, but there isn’t a single stat which is very low, so its certainly worth grabbed to replace a lower or collection roll.

Stat Values (66 Total):

The Bombardiers - Hunter leg armor

The Bombardiers are back in stock again this week, having just appeared last month. These exotic boots come with the perk called Parting gift which leaves behind an explosive with a short fuse after dodging. Thanks to aseason 15 buff that impacted a number ofDestiny 2exotics, these now have a secondary effect that happens based on the equipped subclass. Arc blinds, Solar burns, Void suppresses, and Stasis slows enemy targets.

The Dead Man’s Tale exotic scout rifle from Destiny 2.

While they can be fun to use, they’re certainly not going to replace the other popular and meta exotics currently in the game. With a stat roll that is just okay at best, these can easily be skipped this week.

Stat Values (62 Total):

Ashen Wake - Titan gauntlets

While this exotic is normally not something to get overly excited about, Titans may want to take another look at these gauntlets this time around. The Ashen Wake gauntlets, while they were improved last year inside of of Bungie’ssandbox changes made to the game, can be particular fun when paired with the Grenadier perk.

Bring the Heat makes fusion grenades explode on impact and gives the player increased throw speed. Considering the newly addedSolar 3.0 subclass rework, these exotics may be a bit more desirable than they were previously. Ultimately though, they remain largely situational and the roll isn’t great this week either.

Exotic Weapon

This weekend, Xur has the burst-fire hand cannon, Crimson. Styled after theDestiny 1exotic Red Death, the Crimson hand cannon is unique compared to other weapons in this class. The reason is due to its intrinsic perk known as Banned Weapon as it gives the gun a three round burst. It’s unique perk, Cruel Remedy, heals the player after killing an enemy while a precision kill refills the magazine.

Hand cannons remain a very strong weapon type inDestiny 2, even if there are better options currently available outside of Crimson. Still, the healing effect alone makes this gun worth it, especially in modes with lots of enemies to help trigger the effect. The weapon only gets better with the catalyst so for those who do not yet have this, pick it up.

Additional perks:

Since Season 16 removed the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions,Xur is also selling both Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale with randomized rolls. Players should visit him each weekend as he’ll be carrying different rolls.
