Summary

DespiteDiablo 4’s rough first season, exciting things may be on the horizon for fans of Blizzard’s latest entry in the iconic ARPG series. The first of which is the upcoming second season ofDiablo 4entitled the Season of Blood which has the potential to make up for a lackluster first season with the addition of new content to bolster the endgame loop. While this new season is exciting on its own, players might be in for even more of a treat on November 3 as it marks the start of BlizzCon 2023.

Diablo 4was off to a strong start when it was first released in June earlier this year, but a series of missteps with the Season of the Malignant including unpopular changes to the endgame grind saw the game’s player base drop off significantly. While a lot is riding on theSeason of Bloodto turn things around, Blizzard could also be hiding an ace up their sleeve at BlizzCon 2023. As such, whether the Season of Blood is successful or not,Diablo 4fans will want to keep an eye on November 3 for any newDiablo-related announcements that come out of the event.

BlizzCon 2023 Will Likely Include Announcements Diablo 4 Players Won’t Want to Miss

Historically, BlizzCon has been a huge source of news and updates for theDiablofranchise, despite the event being canceled in 2022. Past years of events like BlizzCon 2021 saw the reveal ofDiablo 2: Resurrected, and 2018 was the year of theinfamousDiablo Immortalannouncement. As the first BlizzCon coming off the heels ofDiablo 4’s release, Blizzard will likely want to reignite some of the hype for the game, setting the stage for a big showing forDiablofans at this year’s event.

A very likely part ofDiablo 4’s showing at BlizzCon 2023 will be what fans can expect for the game’s third season. The Season of Blood starts on October 17, which while it is quite close to BlizzCon’s start date of November 3, could still allow forDiablo 4Season 3 information to be shared at the event.Diablo 4Season 2was announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live just over a month after the start of its first season, so there is precedent for announcing new seasonal plans close to the launch of the current season.

Given the rocky start toDiablo 4’s live-service structure for its seasons, Blizzard may want to pull out all the stops at BlizzCon and announce the first major expansion forDiablo 4. The company has made it clear that there are plans to introduceannual content expansions forDiablo 4, similar to the model ofDestiny 2. WithDiablo’s history of content expansions like the Lord of Destruction expansion forDiablo 2and the Reaper of Souls expansion forDiablo 3,Diablo 4is really going to need to step up its content game if these annual expansions are going to live up to the expectations set by the series' past, and a strong showing at BlizzCon could put it on the right path.

Even if the first major expansion forDiablo 4isn’t announced at BlizzCon, there is still the possibility that juicy information like a new playable class forDiablo 4is revealed. There has been a lot of speculation as to what class or classes would be added toDiablo 4with choices likeAmazon or Paladinseeming like strong potential options to be the game’s sixth class. Whatever Blizzard has in store forDiablofans at BlizzCon 2023, it will likely be worth marking November 3 on the calendar, so fans won’t miss any exciting announcements from the event.

Diablo 4is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
