It took a while forDiablo 3to find its footing, but nowDiablo 4players are asking for one of its features to come back just in time for seasonal gameplay. Though the chances of Blizzard implementing new systems this close toDiablo 4’s inaugural seasonare slim, the Campfire Chat has outlined an ambitious roadmap to polishing up the game’s shortcomings by adding gem bags, reaching a compromise on its Renown system, buffing the amount of experience earned in dungeons, and making Resistances a more enticing attribute for endgame.

Unlike its predecessor, seasons inDiablo 4will come with a Battle Pass, taking on a format comparable toOverwatch 2orGenshin Impact. Players will be able to earn cosmetics, crafting resources, and currency, as they progress through reward tracks that come in both free and premium varieties. With the length of seasons lasting three months on average, fans will have the opportunity to progress through the Battle Pass at their own pace. However, there is one slight issue.

InDiablo 4, players can create characters meant for the Eternal Realm, a game mode that’s not subject to seasonal content, and they can also create characters restricted to Seasons. Creating a seasonal character is intended to be a start from scratch, as the leaderboards get reset and the community races to the top all over again. Given thecharacter creation options inDiablo 4, players find it much easier to grow attached to their hero, and are thus asking for the return of the Rebirth System fromDiablo 3. Posted by GDMCR23 on theDiablo 4subreddit, the community is hoping to reach the ears of the developers.

Thankfully, this is a topic that’s already been discussed by the team at Blizzard, and though it was never slated for launch, feedback on the Rebirth System was something the studio always planned to monitor. Not having to delete old characters to enjoy seasonal content was a huge quality-of-life feature for Diablo fans, and it’s clear that the Rebirth System is sorely missed inDiablo 4. To be reborn with each new Season would allow players to keep their kill count, played time, and establish a sense of continuity.

Though it might realistically arrive in late October, when Season 2 is rumored to launch, there are plenty of benefits for Blizzard to bring back the Rebirth System. Fans care about their characters, and being able to keep them after the end of a Season would entice more players to engage withseasonal content inDiablo 4. While the community hopes that Blizzard will smooth out the game’s rough edges over the coming months, it cannot be denied that the developers are on the right track.

Diablo 4is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
