Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotpromises to giveDragon Ballfans of the manga/anime’s unique world in a way never before done. Not only will the game tell the story ofDragon Ball Zin an impressively accurate fashion, but it will also recreate the world ofDragon Ball Zin striking 3D detail. A new trailer from Bandai Namco is teasing yet another part of theDragon Ball Zworld. This time it’s the iconic Sacred Grounds, Korin Tower, and Kami’s Lookout being showcased.
Korin Tower and Kami’s Lookout are two of the most iconic locations in theDragon Ballfranchise, going all the way back into the originalDragon Ballstory. The Korin’s Tower story inDragon Ballis perhaps the first and simplest example of Goku training over a short time to become significantly stronger. Goku is tasked with climbing the tower and drinking’s Korin’s Sacred Water, said to make the drinker much stronger. Goku climbs the tower in three days, a task that took Master Roshi three years. After drinking the water, Goku explains that it didn’t make him stronger, and Korin explains that it was the act of climbing the tower that makes one stronger.

The Lookout continues Goku’s training in the originalDragon Ball. Goku visits it in the hope of asking Kami to revive Shenron. Goku then spends 3 years at the Lookout training for his fight against Piccolo Jr. at the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament. Incidentally, the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament is the first that stakes the fate of the world on who will win, an idea that’s reflected later inDragon Ball Z’s iconic Cell Sagatournament.
Below both Kami’s Lookout and Korin Tower are the Sacred Grounds, an area protected by the Karinga Tribe. As shown in the trailer, Bora and Upa live at the bottom of Korin Tower and protect it. Fans might better recall for the baby-faced child that he was in theoriginalDragon Ball, though.
Funnily enough, all of these new areas don’t play a particularly prominent role inDragon Ball Z. Goku’s finished his training with Kami a long time in the past, after all. It is the place where the rest of theZ-Fighterstrain in preparation for the arrival of Vegeta and Raditz, however. While Goku himself may not visit Kami’s Lookout inDragon Ball Z, it makes sense that it’d be available to visit in an open-world game based onDragon Ball Z. You have to get Sensu beans somewhere, after all.
