It’s a rather striking new look for the Dark Moon Greatsword, but it should be noted that it is highly unlikely that this was an intentional feature on the part of FromSoftware. As pointed out by Reddit user Prionysus who commented on the post, this effect is most likely caused by a texture glitch.
Regardless, it seems many think that this particularElden Ringglitch makes the Dark Moon Greatsword look even cooler. Some may be interested in acquiring the sword for themselves, though they should note that it getting it is one of the more time-consuming things that players can do in the game. The gist of it is that players will need to go throughRanni the Witch’s questlineto get the Dark Moon Greatsword. The specific location is the Cathedral of Manus Celes, butElden Ringplayers can’t just make a beeline straight there and get it because it requires quest progress.
This isn’t the first interesting detail thatElden Ringplayershave discovered about the Dark Moon Greatsword. Whereas this texture glitch isn’t intentional, though, the connection between the Dark Moon Greatsword and the Golden Order Greatsword does seem to be. Based on the weapon descriptions of both weapons, fans have come to the conclusion that the Golden Order Greatsword is an alternate version of the Dark Moon Greatsword.
