AnElden Ringinvader has collated a few tragic examples of hosts unaware that their attacks will not register, helplessly attempting to bypass the invincibility afforded to those entering another world.Elden RingPvP is much like the single-player journey, in that the player is told very little information compared to what a traditional multiplayer experience would provide.

Where a more orthodox online game might offer tutorials for certain mechanics or design decisions,FromSoftware is simultaneously renowned and infamousfor crafting its vision and leaving players absent of a guiding hand that much of modern gaming is accustomed to. It has resulted in a community that ostensibly sustains itself, manifesting a significant marketplace for accessible content and information that players would have no other way of figuring out. The mathematics behind damage scaling, soft/hard caps, and the percentage values ascribed to various buffs are examples of information often only known to those that actively seek it out.

However, not everyone is necessarily up-to-date with these facts, as encapsulated in a video uploaded to Reddit by ShabririNuts. It begins with the player rising from a blood-colored pool on the steps just before Starscourge Radahn’s desert arena. As the camera pans around, the host is approaching from behind, waiting a moment before striking, likely because they know about the period of invincibility that is granted to invaders.Known as I-frames in Soulsborne titles, most players will have experienced the phenomenon when dodging, an action that makes anything considered a hit to fail to connect for a certain length of the associated animation.

I-frames are also applied to invaders when summoned into another world. Otherwise, their opponents would be able to end the fight before it even begins. Unfortunately for the filmed host, they do not wait long enough beforeattempting to attack with the Rivers of Blood Ash Of War, Corpse Piler. As the first couple of blood-infused slashes flail about, the invader jumps and employs a strategy affectionately dubbed “Unga Bunga” by the community, crashing down on the host with two Greatswords and inflicting 1033 damage to one-shot them.

Three more displays of utter greed on behalf of the hosts are showcased, with the invader never opting for a different attack, committed to punishing attempts to overwhelm them with powerful smites from above. Comments agreed that it was likely at least one of the hosts or furled fingers had no idea about the I-frames present and went on to assume hacking was taking place, afrequent accusation levied atElden Ringplayerswho make use of gimmicks and seemingly unknown techniques.

Elden Ringis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
