AnElden Ringplayer managed to defeat one of the game’s bosses just after dying to it following a long and grueling fight. There have been many cases in not justElden Ring, but other FromSoftware titles, where the player and the boss both die at the same time, sometimes one after the other. It’s a perfectly timed event where both attacks connect and cause both to perish at the same time, which thankfully leads to a victory on the player’s part,as long as they don’t randomly die again right after spawning back in, giving them the win even when they are warping to the nearest Site of Grace or Marika’s Stake.
The gargoyles can be a rather difficult boss fight to go up against, especially when thegargoyle poundsElden Ringplayers to dust by a jumping glitch. However, there is a variant of the gargoyle that can be even more difficult to fight due to its tanky nature and heavy-hitting attacks known as the Black Blade Kindred. There are only a couple in the game, but they can put up quite a fight, with one tip usually being to summon a particular NPC.

It was this NPC partner that gave victory to one player as they died toElden Ring’s Black Blade Kindred. Posting to r/Eldenring, user uwuttlavv uploaded a video of them going up against the Black Blade Kindred alongside anNPC co-op partner known as Millicent, earned through doing some of her questline, with many fast attacks to distract the enemy with. During the fight, just as the player was about to kill the Black Blade Kindred, the foe did a spinning slash that destroyed the player’s health, killing them near-instantly. However, while the player is dead on the floor, their partner Millicent runs up and kills the Black Blade Kindred herself, which does earn the player the victory.
Millicent is actually quite tanky herself and delivers a great offense to everyElden Ringfight she can be summoned to, as many in the comments also remark about the Scarlet Rot-ridden NPC. However, much of the work can also be attributed to the player, who whittled down the Black Blade Kindred’s health just enough that any attack from Millicent would take it down in an instant.
WhileElden Ringis quite a difficult game, it has many avenues with which players can make things even just a bit easier for themselves, one of which being the NPC summons. Not only do these summons help in a fight, but also endear themselves to players as they fight alongside them. While Millicent’s story does not end quite as happily as this one, there may be more unique and interesting NPC summons to encounter inElden Ring’s upcoming expansion. Until then, players can appreciate the ones that are already in the game.
Elden Ringis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
