Next week’s free game isTales of the Neon Sea, a retro2D side-scrolling adventureset on the waterfront of a polluted, neon-lit city. Players play as a hardened cyborg detective named Rex who is tasked with solving various puzzles, including missing persons and murder cases. One ofTales of the NeonSea’s biggest draws is its dirty yet stylish environment that gives the game its namesake. Reviewers have also praised the game for its use of sound and gripping stories.Tales of the Neon Seawas developed by the Chinese studio Palm Pioneer.
The Epic Games Store’s current free game isCreature in the Well, a top-down hacker adventure game set in apost-apocalyptic setting. Players take control of BOT-C, the last remaining robot of its kind, who must save the town of mirage from a sandstorm by reactivating an ancient weather machine. The machine is guarded by a mysterious creature that will attempt to stop players from accomplishing their goal.Creature in the Wellwas created by Flight School studio and has received generally positive reviews. It won the award for “outstanding original game” at Unreal’s E3 competition.
Creature in the Wellis available through April 1, withTales of the Neon Seabecoming free that same day. While both titles are very different games, each includes quirky side characters with unique stories and a futuristic setting.
