As an RPG, stats are very important inFire Emblem Engage. These determine what a character is capable of, what they’re good at, and what they’re bad at. It’s vital to understand what each stat does and how they change the way a character should be used if players want to succeed on some ofthisFire Emblemgame’s harder missions. While the plethora of Basic Stats, Combat Stats, and other stats can seem overwhelming at first, fans will be happy to know that they are, for the most part, very straightforward in what they each do. There are a few outliers, however, so it helps to go over each stat individually.
Stats are broken up into two main categories inFire Emblem Engage: Basic Stats and Combat Stats. Basic Stats can be directly upgraded through leveling up a character, whereas Combat Stats are usually derived from a combination of the player’s Basic Stats and their equipment. Other stats that don’t fall into these categories include HP, Bld, and SP.

Fire Emblem Engage - Basic Stats
The Basic Stats inFire Emblem Engageare Str, Mag, Dex, Spd, Def, Res, and Lck.
Str (Strength)
Str governs damage dealt with physical attacks, including bows and thrown weapons. Most weapon types use Str for damage, with the exception of tomes and staves (Magic).
Mag (Magic)
Mag governs damage dealt with magic attacks, primarily tomes and staves. A higher Mag stat means more damage with tomes and more healing with staves.
Dex (Dexterity)
Dex governs both the hit rate of a unit and its critical hit chance. This affects all kinds of attacks, including physical and magic attacks.
Spd (Speed)
Theprimary purpose of Spd inFire Emblem Engageis to determine whether a unit gets two attacks or one when engaging an enemy. If the character’s Spd stat is five or greater than their target, they will launch two attacks instead of one. It also affects Avo (Avoidance), making it harder for enemies to hit the unit.
Def (Defense)
Def directly reduces the damage taken from physical attacks at a 1:1 ratio. Every point of Def a unit has will make them take one less point of damage from physical attacks, potentially negating the damage altogether.
Res (Resistance)
Res directly reduces the damage taken from magical attacks at a 1:1 ratio. Every point of Res a unit has will make them take one less point of damage from magic attacks, potentially negating the damage altogether.
Lck (Luck)
Lck lowers the chance of enemies scoring critical hits on the unit and increases the unit’s odds of finding certain healing items.
Rating
Rating provides players a way to quickly see how their characters' stats compare. Rating is the sum of all Basic Stats plus the unit’s Bld stat. This is especially helpful as players get further in thestory ofFire Emblem Engageto see which units are lagging behind.

Fire Emblem Engage - Combat Stats
The Combat Stats inFire Emblem Engageare Ph Atk, Mag Atk, Hit, Avo, Crit, Ddg, and Rng. These are often affected byweapons inFire Emblem Engage.
Ph Atk (Physical Attack)
Ph Atk is exactly how much damage a character will do with a physical attack (before crits, enemy defense values, andFire Emblem Engage’s weapon triangle balancing). This value equals the unit’s Str + the weapon’s Might.
Mag Atk (Magic Attack)
Mag Atk is exactly how much damage a character will do with a magic attack (before crits and enemy resistance values). This value is equal to the unit’s Mag + the tome’s Might.
Hit (Hit Chance)
Hit determines the chance a character has to hit with an attack. The target’s Avo stat is subtracted from the attacker’s Hit stat to determine the accuracy of an attack (in percent chance to hit).
Avo (Avoidance)
Avo determines the chance a character has to dodge an attack. The unit’s Avo stat is subtracted from the attacker’s Hit stat to determine the accuracy of an attack.
Crit (Critical Chance)
Crit determines the likelihood that a unit’s attack will cause a Critical Hit (before the opponent’s Lck stat is applied).
Ddg (Dodge)
Ddg determines the likelihood a unit has to avoid a Critical Hit and directly opposes the Crit stat.
Rng (Range)
Rng determines how many spaces away the unit must be to make an attack with their weapon. Typically, melee weapons inFire Emblem Engage, like axes, have an Rng of 1, tomes and thrown weapons have an Rng of 1-2, and bows and other ranged weapons have an Rng of 2.
Other stats inFire Emblem Engageinclude HP, Bld, SP, and Mov.

HP (Hit Points)
HP represents how many hit points a unit has. When this reaches zero, the unit is defeated.

SP (Skill Points)
SP are earned from defeating enemies while equipped with a Bond Ring and can be spent tolearn skills from Emblem Rings.
Mov (Movement)
