Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is getting its Season 2 update in a few days, and it seems like there is less content outside all the remakes and in-season updates than players would like. The game has only been out for a few months, having released in October 2022, and Season 2 marks the first major update to bring new content and features toCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Remade content isn’t always a bad thing - players often appreciate cases where popular maps and game modes are reintroduced. It was revealed recently that the popularGun Game mode would return toCall of Dutywith the Season 2 update, but some players feel that the roadmap for the first big update relies too heavily on recycling content and doesn’t bring enough new maps and features toModern Warfare 2.

The image below posted by a Redditor going by the name jacovskee blacks out all the remakes, in-season updates, and paid content that will be featured in theCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2Season 2 update. Shockingly, this accounts for almost half of the content, including most of the new features, half of the new multiplayer maps, and half of the new game modes. Others responded to share their frustrations at the drip-feed of content, and point out that all the new game modes that would be available on February 15have also featured in pastCall of Dutygames.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2has also recently been the subject of rumors and discussions about the life cycle of the game - evidently the game was meant to have a 2-year life cycle, meaning the next game in the franchise would only arrive in 2024, but it appears thatActivision is planning a fullCall of Dutyrelease in 2023- there has been no confirmation from the company whether this will be a newgame or simply a big paid DLC forModern Warfare 2as some have suggested, leaving a vacuum of information that will naturally be filled with rumors until more information comes to light.

It’s understandable that some players are disappointed at the apparent lack of content arriving with the Season 2 update. It’s hard to disagree with the sentiment thatWarzone 2.0is getting more attention and new contentin the big new update, which seems unfair considering the fact that it is free to play. Regardless, it is still early in the life cycle ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2,and future updates will hopefully address any reservations and concerns that the game’s faithful may have at this time.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
