The addition of AI teammates toGhost Recon Breakpointis a highly requested feature. Luckily, that may be comingsooner than expected. Ubisoft announced that AI teammates will bereleasingin the summer of 2020, together with some other updates. This is a huge step in optimizing thesingleplayerexperience of the game.

The addition of AI teammates can bring about a whole new direction in gameplay forBreakpoint.Since this feature worked so well inGhost Recon Wildlands,it’s exciting to see what this can deliver givenBreakpoint’shuge changes from the previous title. Here are 10 reasons why having AI teammates is better forGhost Recon Breakpoint.

10More Firepower

The most obvious plus to having AI teammates is having more ghosts by the player’s side. More ghosts meansmore firepower. Three additional helping hands means that bases can be more easily cleared, more synchronized sniper shots for stealth plays, and more backing in case things don’t go according to plan.

Four special force ghosts have more of a chance when the whole area goes after them than when the whole opposition just goes after one single player. This also makesharder difficulty optionsmore bearable.

9More Complexity

WithGhost Recon Breakpoint’simplementation of theclass system, with the different classes being Assault, Panther, Sharpshooter, Medic, Echelon, and Engineer. Players can adopt a variety of roles and specializations, and the same complexity can also apply to AI teammates.

Just like with teammate customization inGhost ReconWildlands, the player might also be able to customize the classes of his AI teammates. This allows them to build their ownteam composition, and have their own unique approach to the battlefield. Four medics, why not?

8Faster Level Up

InGhost Recon Wildlands, enemies killed by AI teammates are rewarded as XP for the player. This means that the player levels up faster in singleplayer than in multiplayer co-op. The same mechanics might also be seen whenGhost Recon Breakpointrolls out the update for AI teammates.

If the player is tired of his human-controlled companions taking all the kills from him, he can quickly hop into singleplayer mode to obtain some much-needed XP and perk points there. Then, go back to multiplayer when he’s satisfied.

7More Vibrant Gameplay

Ghost Recon Breakpoint, initially having only the option for human-controlled teammates, was tailored to be a one-man-army singleplayer experience, hence the somewhat awkward absence of dialogue. With the addition of AI teammates, however, Ubisoft could be treading into a direction with the game’s singleplayer experience, and, thus, finally add someteam interactions.

This makes long journeys feel less lonely and could spice up some missions with side comments and banter. Helicopter flights would be a lot less boring now with these guys chewing the cud.

6Fitting For The Setting

It makes more sense for a four-man squadron to cause havoc and sabotage to Aurora’s system than it is for a one-man-band to do it all by himself. Though the game starts with Nomad’s team of ghosts all being gunned down, it wouldn’t make sense for him to do every damn thing, liberating the island on his own.

Additionally, it is more realistic for the whole opposition to struggle taking out four elite ops than for them to have trouble in taking down just one man. This is more representative of a superhero movie than it is aTom Clancygame. Having three more companions eliminates the unrealistic motives of a single-person wrecking crew.

5More Use For Some Abilities

With the absence of teammates, someabilities have little use, and some have no use at all. As a result, these abilities have no place in singleplayer and are less likely to be equipped in general. This leads to players not even equipping them in multiplayer co-op.

But, with the addition of AI teammates, these abilities could have both singleplayer and multiplayer usability. Examples of these skills are “Revivalist,” which grants the player movement and resistance buffs when a teammate is downed, and “Inspired” which heals the player every time an ally gets a kill.

4More Tactical Flavor

Just like inWildlands,Ghost Recon Breakpoint’saddition of AI teammates can spice up atactical experience. Especially in the game’s immersive mode. With the addition of AI teammates, they could call out locations of enemies, the presence of key threats such as drones, direct the player’s attention to an overhead chopper, and so much more. Teammates can also signal to get down, halt, and to fire. The player can rely on these callouts in the absence of a hud for a more boots-on-the-ground immersion.

3Someone To Drive

Wildlands’AI cannotdrive, which is why banter regarding driving like “hey, you never let me drive anymore. Is it because of that one time?” is often heard inWildlands. But, after seeing howFar Cry 5’sAI companions can drive vehicles for the player, the same mechanic can also be introduced toBreakpoint. The player can finally be the gunner of his own hard-earned Incursion tank, having one of the AI companions drive for him. This allows the player to focus on shooting pursuing enemies or do other fun stuff that he can’t do as a driver.

2Someone To Revive You

Breakpointhas an interesting revive system that allows for carrying teammates when they’re injured. This adds to the tactical feel of the game. However, this can’t be utilized when playing alone since there’s no one to revive, and no one to get revived by.

The addition of AI teammates can help in that regard. Not only would AI teammates help in getting the player his second life, but they also add to maximize the game’s injury system for the player’s overall gameplay experience.

1Allows Offline Play

It’s clear thatBreakpointis optimizing gameplay experience for singleplayer with the addition of AI teammates. Since the gameneeds an internet connection, players could expect that, along with this AI teammates update, offline play could potentially become an option. This would be a huge upside to the game, considering that some people are hesitant to purchase it for the reason that it is mainly online.

Some gamers don’t have optimal internet access, and allowing offline playability places this game in a different competing environment away from the popular online-onlybattle royalegames such asCOD Warzone, making this a crucial step for the developers, as well.
