CallingGrand Theft Auto 6a highly anticipated game would be one of the largest understatements someone could make, as the recordbreaking sales forGTA 5show just how popular the series is. WithGTA 5nearly seven years old now, though, one would expect official info on its sequel by now. With that in mind, the voice actor forGTA 5protagonist Franklin has discussed where exactlyGTA 6is.

While Rockstar has spent time updating its popularGTA Onlinemode as well as thekiller-infestedRed Dead Onlineexperience, insiders have reported that they are hard at work onGTA 6as well. The only problem is that various reports have indicated that the game is early on in production while others say it is nearing completion, leaving many fans to be confused on when exactly the game is coming. Franklin actor Shawn Fonteno does not have all the answers, but he is sure of one thing.

Fonteno took to Instagram Live to defend Rockstar against various complaints regarding the development of the sixth numbered entry in the series. The complaints in question do not deal with thereset accounts inGTA Online, but rather the constant comments that Rockstar is milkingGTA 5. Fonteno tells fans not to “knock Rockstar down,” ensuring them that “it’s a process to put these games out” and the nextGrand Theft Autowill come when it is ready.

Considering thatGrand Theft Auto 5is one ofthe most played games of all time, it is no surprise how anticipated the next game is. Fonteno makes a great point by pointing out the current state of the world given the coronavirus, as well as the impact that has had on development. Releasing an unfinished game at such a poor makes little sense, as Fonteno states that fans “wouldn’t accept it if they threwGTA 6out right now” and the game was a mess.

Fonteno ends his discussion of the issue by sharing that it took a massive “four/four-and-a-half years to film and completeGTA 5.” With that much time spent recording dialogue,Grand Theft Auto’s development time should be a bit more understandable for info-starved fans. That has not kept fans from searching for any shred of news they can find, though, with a domain being found thathints at the location ofGTA 6.

Fonteno’s comments are fair and the points he makes are valid, as the actor for Franklin should have a better idea of what goes into creating aGTAgame than fans do. Still, even though Fonteno tells players to be more patient with Rockstar, demands for info onGTA 6and what could be in itlikely will not be stopping anytime soon.
