Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Editionlaunched this month with a wide range of issues. These range from low-quality or poorly implemented textures, character models, and effectsto annoying glitches and stretching cars.

There’s no arguing thatGrand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Editionwas not a disappointment to many fans. On the other hand, there is also no denying that many of the issues are pretty funny. For example, take the discovery of time traveling wine in the remasteredGrand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Rockstar Games originally releasedGrand Theft Auto: San Andreasin October 2004. However, the game took place more than a decade earlier, in 1992. Either way, one would not expect the bars in San Andreas to stock wine from 2010. However, that’s exactly what Reddit user Sir-Laurie found in the badly remastered game.

The graphic was almost definitely reused fromGrand Theft Auto 5, as the Reddit thread quickly figured out. However, it wasn’t the only time-traveling asset either. One commenter mentioned finding some of the GTA 5 character’s clothes in the remasteredSan Andreasstores. Another Reddit user complained about seeing posters for buildings that only exist in the laterGrand Theft Autogame.

Many commenters in theGrand Theft Autosubreddits were more amused than annoyed by the anachronistic wine, and it is an undeniably funny mistake. At least one person asked if the original poster had seen any DeLoreans on the street. However, quite a few expressedfrustrations with Rockstar Games, Grove Street Games, and theDefinitive Editionitself.

Not to mention that mislabeled wine is far from the only case of sloppy graphics in theDefinitive EditonofGrand Theft Auto: The Trilogy. There are the above-mentioned stretching cars andThe Trilogy’sbafflingly bad character models, along with hovering tattoos and de-aged characters.

Some have even pointed out that the Definitive Edition is in many ways a graphical and performance downgrade compared to the existingPS Vita port ofGTA: The Trilogy. Altogether, it’s easy to see why so many fans were disappointed by the remaster. The time-traveling wine is just a single drop in the vast ocean ofThe Definitive Edition’smany issues.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Editionis available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
