Summary
Helldivers 2is a multiplayer title that sees players risking their livesbattling against Automatons and alien bugsin the hope of protecting Super Earth from such dangers. Besides these enemies on the planets players travel to, the planets themselves can be quite a foe for the Helldivers to face.
When selecting a planet, players will be warned about the planetary hazards they are likely to face while fighting on the surface, from fire tornadoes that can quickly kill a player, to inconveniences like Acid Storms that reduce visibility. With so many different environmental effects possible, here are some tipsfor players inHelldivers 2to better their chances of survival.

8Always Go In Prepared
One of the most important ways players can verify they survive against the various hazards ofHelldivers 2is by landing on each planet while aware of what’s ahead of them.
Both the host of a game and those that have joined can see whatthe planetary hazardis going to be before they arrive on the planet. This therefore allows a player to decide if they want to face that hazard, and to know what to look out for when they finally attempt to complete the various missions available.

7Have Stims On Hand
Counteract Burning
Healing is one of the most valuable actions a player can do during the fight against either the Terminids or Automatons. However, stims can also help counteract plenty of other damage too, such as the fire tornadoes that wreak havoc on many of the hotter planets inHelldivers 2. The tornado itself can quickly kill the player, but the path of fire it leaves behind can be even worse.
This is likely to trap the player with no true path of escape unless they simply wait out the planetary hazard. Therefore, players should use their stims sparingly, as the healing effect can stop the burning and keep the player’s health up, as they also can’t take damage while healing.

6Turn Off Lights
Increases Visibility
Many of the planetary hazards players are likely to face reduce the player’s visibility. This can be incredibly stressful depending on how thick the fog is, as players will struggle to see the foes they are fighting while traversing through it, especially Automatons that can hit from afar.
While there is no actual way to reduce the amount of fog on these planets, shooting out lights or turning off the player’s torch on their gun can actually do more help than harm. Even with bloom turned off, these lights can be blinding when aiming at foes. Turning them off can make it a lot easier to see through the fog at the player’s targets.

5Look Out For Danger
There Are Cues For Certain Hazards
Besides players going into the game prepared for what hazard they is going to face, some of the hazards that appear have telltale signs that they are about to happen, and where the player should avoid standing. This is especially true when dealing with the meteor storm planetary hazard that can be found on the planets Tien Kwan, Haldus, and Fenrir 3.
It is possible to stand out of the way of the meteors landing as long as the player keeps their eye’s peeled. Where a meteor is going to hit will light up, and therefore, whenrunning across the surfaceof the planet, players can hopefully avoid these spots.

4Work To Some Hazards Advantage
Use Specific Weaponry At Times
Although they may be called hazards, they can also be a blessing depending on what the player wants to use as their weapons. For example, certain planetary hazards such as Extreme Cold are perfect for players that want to use energy weapons.
This is because the planetary hazard reduces the build up of heat for these energy weapons, and therefore, players should be able to shoot more when using them. Though players should therefore also remember that, if they then land on a planet with Extreme Heat, they should avoid these sorts of weapons, as they will get hotter a lot quicker.

3Do Not Always Rely On Stratagems
Some Hazards Block Them
Helldivers2encourages players to make the most of their stratagems at all times. This is because they can quickly dispatch a group of enemies when calling in anEagle Airstrikeor any of the other orbital weaponry too. However, there are hazards that can put a stop to this: Ion Storms.
Occasionally, on the planets Crimsica, Malevelon Creek, and Ubanea, a magnetic storm will occur that completely disables the use of stratagems. Although only temporary, this can be incredibly unlucky, and therefore, players should prepare accordingly for it.

2Use Hazards Against The Enemy
Fire Tornadoes Burn Everyone
Helldivers aren’t the only ones affected by the hazards that occur on planets, as robots and bugs can also find themselves at the mercy of the planets they have decided to inhabit. Therefore, players may wish to encourage foes that attempt to attack them to walk into the dangers that constantly surround them on these planets.
This may mean leading Terminids into the path of fire tornadoes, or forcing Automatons to walk across an active site of a Meteroite Storm. Players should still be careful when attempting these tactics, but they are certainly a viable strategy.

1Shields Are Vital
It Might Save A Player’s Life
Although the Meteorite Storm can be somewhat seen through the lights it leaves on the ground, sometimes the best option to avoid dying from these hazards is being extra protected. One of the best ways to do this is by bringing along a shield backpack or generator.
This can be worn at all times to not only defend the player against a possible meteor hit, but to deflect the damage done by the foes they face. Overall, this can give players a better chance atfocusing on the main mission, instead of the dangers of the land around them.
