Currently, the only way to playPentimentis on PC, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X, but considering the game’s acclaim, it’s understandable that some fans want to see it come to other platforms.

Pentimentdirector Josh Sawyer recently told Touch Arcade that it’s possible for the game to come to theNintendo Switch. Sawyer said that he doesn’t think that there are any technical limitations preventing a Switch version ofPentiment, and that he would like to see the game “be on as many platforms as possible.” SincePentimentis an Xbox-owned game, it seems unlikely that it will be ported to other platforms, but Xbox and Nintendo do seem to have a fairly positive relationship.
Xbox has already released some of its games on the Nintendo Switch, likeOri and the Blind Forestas well as the sequel,Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Nintendo and Xbox have also carved out deals with each other to feature Xbox-owned characters and games on the Switch in various capacities. For instance,Xbox-owned Banjo and Kazooie were added to theSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateroster, as was Steve fromMinecraft. Plus,GoldenEye 007andBanjo-Kazooieare both readily available through the Switch Online Expansion Pack service despite the games having been developed by Xbox’s Rare.
For those unfamiliar withPentiment, it’s a narrative-driven game that has players investigating 16th century murders, making important dialogue choices that can influence the story.Pentimentearned mostly positive reviews from critics at the time of its original release in 2022, with praise for its unique premise and gripping story. Nintendo Switch gamers may or may not ever get to play it on their platform of choice, but those with a PC or Xbox console handy can try it out easily. Like all Xbox first-party games,Pentimentis on Xbox Game Pass, so gamers can play through it in its entirety without actually buying the game outright.
