Instead of adaptingHarry PotterorFantastic Beasts, Avalanche Software has given players one of the first major original Wizarding World video games withHogwarts Legacy. The game tells a completely new tale within theHarry Potterfranchise, and fans seem to be loving it. While theFantastic Beastsmovies struggled to gain an audience,Hogwarts Legacyhas shown that there is still an interest in new stories set within this magical world. Warner Bros. should capitalize on the series' popularity, and one of the best studios for the job may be Traveller’s Tales.
Traveller’s Tales is one of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s most popular studios, andits LEGO franchise deserves another shotat the Wizarding World. A new version ofLEGO Harry Pottermay be in the cards, but the studio should also be allowed to tell a new story in the franchise. It has shown that it knows how to tell original stories within pre-established IPs before, and now it should be handed the keys to theHarry Potterkingdom.

Hogwarts Legacy Showed There is a Hunger for New Harry Potter Stories
Ever since the release ofHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Warner Bros. has struggled to figure out where to take the franchise next. It attempted to kickstart a new five movie prequel series withFantastic Beasts, but that failed to enthrall the fan base. Each entry seemed to forget what madeHarry Potterpopular in the first place, and each film made significantly less money at the box office than its predecessor. Warner Bros. has since put theFantastic Beastsseries on hold afterThe Secrets of Dumbledorebecame the lowest-grossing film in the franchise, and it is now trying to figure out what comes next.Couple that with J.K. Rowling’s controversial statements, and theHarry Potterfranchise seemed like it was dead.
While theFantastic Beastsseries struggled to gain an audience, it seems likeHogwarts Legacyhas been a rousing success. The game has proven to be both a critical and commercial success for the IP. It has shown that there is still an audience for newHarry Potterstories, and it has seemingly brought the IP back from the brink of death. The internet seems to be talking aboutHarry Potteragain, andHogwarts Legacy’s success will no doubt lead to even more new adventureswithin this world.

LEGO Knows How to Tell a Good Story in Pre-Established IPs
Warner Bros, will likely want to capitalize on the success ofHogwarts Legacy, and one of the studios that it could tap would be Traveller’s Tales. Traveller’s Tales has garnered a bit of a fanbase thanks to its very popular LEGO franchise, and it may be able to do theHarry Potterseries justice. The studio has already played around with the IP when it adapted the main series withLEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4andLEGO Harry Potter Years 5-7, and now it should be allowed to tella new original tale within the Wizarding World.
Traveller’s Tales has made a name for itself by adapting popular films with LEGOs, but it also has plenty of experience crafting original stories using pre-established IPs. TheLEGO Marvel Super HeroesandLEGO Batmanseriestell fun new stories using some of the world’s most popular superheroes, andLEGO Dimensionslet Traveller’s Tales tell its own massive multiverse story with dozens of major IPs, which even includedHarry Potter. The studio knows how to tell a good story, and it should be able to tell one within theHarry Pottermythos.
A new originalLEGO Harry Pottergame could expand the franchise in new ways while also giving younger audiences a fun co-op adventure to playthrough. The story could continue theFantastic Beastsfranchise, it could tell a tale about the Marauders, or it could simply follow a new group of students at Hogwarts or another wizarding school. While it may not reach the heights ofHogwarts Legacy, a magical LEGO adventure would surely be a treat for fans.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One ports are scheduled to release on April 4, whereas the Nintendo Switch version is arriving on August 02, 2025.
