While players compareWuthering Waveswith many other successful open-world gacha games likeGenshin Impact in many other aspects, Wuthering Wavesdistinguishes itself from other titles with its unique combat system, offering players an exhilarating blend of strategy and action.Wuthering Wavesplaces a strong emphasis on combat mechanics, challenging players to master a diverse range of skills and abilities while building optimal team synergies.
Alongside intriguingcombat mechanics like Echo skills, Outro and Intro skills are another combat aspect that doesn’t particularly exist in many other games in this scale, even though swapping between charcaters at certain moments can be key in those as well, albeit, not the same extent.

What Is Outro and Intro Skill in Wuthering Waves?
Outro and Intro Skills are integral parts of each resonator’s kit in Wuthering Waves, and they feature unique animations and benefits. For example, DPS characters like Encorecan deal additional damage when exiting and entering combat by switching between characters at specific times, while support-oriented characters like Verina have Outro skills that provide additional healing and buff allies for increased damage. Consequently, paying attention to when to use Outro or Intro Skills becomes crucial.
Players can see each character’s Intro and Outro skills in Forte tab and level Intro Skills as they progress.

How To Perform Outro and Intro Skill in Wuthering Waves?
Players will notice an icon for Concerto Energy located on the left side of the active character’s HP bar. This Concerto Energy gradually fills as the character deals damage or performs dodges. When the Concerto Energy bar is full, players can execute Outro and Intro Skills. Additionally, players will observe that off-field character icons begin to glow when Concerto Energy is fully charged. Switching to another team member will allow the previously active character to perform an Outro Skill, and the one entering will perform the Intro skill. Notably, these skills do not have any cooldown. Each character has a separate Concerto bar, which only depletes upon using Intro and Outro Skills and not through switching in and out by other means.
Strategy Around Intro and Outro Skills
Considering that certain intro and outro skills can significantly impact both utility and DPS, players should adopt a strategic approach to their usage. It’s essential not to deploy them as soon as they become available in every instance. Since a DPS character typically occupies the majority of the rotation, players should prioritize executing combos and maximizing the on-field time of these characters' high DPS frames. Many of these characters also gain additional enhancements during Resonance Liberation. Therefore, it’s crucial to utilize this time frame most effectively and to its fullest extent before activating an outro skill. By doing so, players can optimize their combat performance and capitalize on the strengths of their team composition.
This principle also extends to outro skills from support characters. Therefore, players should carefully time their rotations to ensure optimal synergy. For instance, when activating the outro skill of characters like Verina or Baizhi, players should strategically switch to their main DPS, allowing them to capitalize on the ensuing DPS window, such as activating their Resonance Liberation (ultimate). As a result, the third character in the roster, particularly if they serve as a sub-DPS without providing significant benefits to the party, may not frequently utilize their outro skill. Instead, they should be switched in or out only when necessary to maintain the overall effectiveness of the team composition.

In certain scenarios, however, when the sub-DPS or hybrid character does offer beneficial outro skill effects, it’s advantageous to coordinate Concerto skill gauges to maximize their impact on the main DPS. For instance, players can strategically execute an outro skill from a support character that provides buffs to all allies. Instead of immediately switching to the next character, they can then switch to the sub-DPS character, allowing them to quickly charge their Concerto gauge. Finally, players can switch to the main DPS, enabling them to benefit from both the initial support buffs and the additional buffs provided by the sub-DPS. This tactical maneuver not only enhances the overall effectiveness of the team but also maximizes the utilization of outro skills to optimize combat performance. For example:
Overall, strategy around the Intro and Outro skills heavily depend per character and team synergy, and players should plan around these based on their character roster and rotations.
