Tails of Ironis both brutal and unforgiving, and even skilled players will find themselves dying frequently and having to reload. With that in mind, knowing how to save the game is incredibly important, but there’s very little in the way of a tutorial about this. Though saving and reloading may seem somewhat complicated at first, it’s actually incredibly simple. The downside to this is thatplayers aren’t afforded much freedom with their save files.

During the tutorial ofTails of Iron, in the Crimson Keep, there is one part where a character tells the player how to save the game. Unfortunately, while charming, the game’s method of using speech bubbles with pictures instead of dialogue is not always effective at communicating information. The result is that some players may end up getting quite far into the game without a clear understanding of how to save.

How to Save in Tails of Iron

In order to save theirprogress inTails of Iron, players will need to find a bench or chair to sit on. They can press Square while near a seat that has a glowing, blue lantern next to it, and Redgi will hop up and sit briefly. Players can be sure it worked by theTails of Ironsaving logo in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. This will make it so that if the player quits and reloads or simply dies, they will restart here.Tails of Ironmay also occasionally autosave for the player, but using this method is the most reliable way to save.

How Many Save Files Are There in Tails of Iron?

Tails of Ironhas three save file slots, but since there’s no way to select a save file slot when saving, players aren’t able to make backup saves or anything like that. Instead, each of these save files is intended for completely separate playthroughs of the game. As such, it’s important to remember that saving the game will only affect the save file that the player is currently using.

Using a save point doesn’t respawn enemies, heal the player, or refill their Bug Juice, they are only used for saving the game. Even so, players should remember to save often, which should lead to them having a much easier time getting throughTails of Iron’s challenging campaign. There’s nothing worse than beating a tough boss and then dying to a regular enemy afterward only to discover that the last save was just before finally besting that difficult enemy boss.
