The I Think You Should Leave ‘Sloppy Steaks’ Sketch, Explained

The now famous ‘Sloppy Steaks’sketch fromI Think You Should Leaveactually goes by another lesser-known name as well, ‘Baby Cries’, which is where the absurdity of the sketch comes from. The absurdity kicks off as agroup of adults are huddled around a baby, eventually resulting in Tim Robinson’s character holding the baby, except of course, the baby immediately starts crying when he holds it. He starts insisting that babies don’t like him, thus making them cry because, to put it in less vulgar language, he used to be a massive jerk. He knows he used to be a massive jerk, but he continually insists that it doesn’t bother him one bit.

Sometime later, Tim Robinson finds the baby’s grandmother to express worry about the baby’s mother since she, in Tim’s mind, cared that her baby cried because she knows thathe used to be a huge jerk. Of course, this is where sloppy steaks come in because that was a key component of his jerkiness, complete with slick-backed hair. For those wondering, he explains sloppy steaks to an older man, it is simply a steak with water poured on top of it, and somehow, it’s supposedly incredible. It’s also very important to remember that there is a key difference between slicked-back hair and pushed-back hair – very important.

Even later, Tim’s character expresses worry that the baby might not think people can change as time goes on, shedding their sloppy steak ways. Soon the cooing of the baby is heard again, causing Tim to jump into action to find an older man holding the baby while it cries slightly. With a simple slick-back of the man’s hair, it’s clear that this old man used to be a jerk, and probably lovedsloppy steaks as Truffoni’stoo. Of course, that is exactly the case, that old man is just like one of those people who’d be told not to make sloppy steaks, only to immediately make some sloppy steaks because he was a jerk – but jerks can change.

Tim’s character finally holds the baby without it crying and realizes that he’s not a jerk anymore. People can in fact change. This launches him intoa lengthy flashback sequenceof Tim’s character back in his jerk era filled with sloppy steaks at Truffoni’s after the club. He and his Dangerous Night’s Crew made the sloppiest sloppy steaks anyone had ever seen before heading out and ending the night on the beach.

Can You Make Sloppy Steaks In Real Life?

Believe it or not, it’s possible to make sloppy steaks for those who want to thanks toBinging with Babish. There’s no promise that any individual’s steak will be quite as sloppy as Tim Robinson’s sloppy steaks, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth giving a try. Babish makesan absolutely massive steakto start, and despite being told not to make a sloppy steak, he goes ahead and makes a sloppy steak anyway. While it is visually satisfying, Babish makes it clear that making a sloppy steak is just as fun as it looks in the episode. Apparently, the water doesn’t add much, but it doesn’t really make it that much worse either – who would have thought?

Babish then goes ahead and does what he does best, making a bizarre idea actually mouth-watering. He goes forward to make a much more elaborate sloppy steak than anyone else could have dreamt of, filled with plenty of fancy ingredients. He even goes as far as getting a massive piece of Wagyu beef for his second attempt at a sloppy steak, and while it does look incredibly fancy, it’s hard to say that his second take on sloppy steaks didn’t look likea five-star meal.
