Based on the Polish novel series by Andrzej Sapkowski,The Witcherseries was notably popularized by CD Projekt Red’s video game adaptations — and then by a Netflix series starring Henry Cavill.The Witcher 3in particular has had a lasting effect, leading to multiple DLC releases and re-releases on various consoles. Pixelstag’s Xbox Series X design based offThe Witcher 3is simple and elegant, retaining a scuffed black chassis with the claw mark “three” on the front that matches the color of the vent on top. The artist saysThe Witcher 3is their favorite game, and they made three different color variations of the console design in red, blue, and yellow, with each color also touching the Xbox logo and buttons on the Series X controller.
Since releasing in 2015, the popular RPG has continued to be a sales juggernaut for CD Projekt Red. In May, it was announced thatThe Witcher 3crossed a 50 million sales milestone, and not long before that, a CD Projekt Red financial report said the game sold as well in 2019 as it did during its launch year.
Though the game’s base content as well as its DLC make for an incredibly solid title that justifies its wide-reaching sales potential,The Witcher 3’s longevity also benefits from its modding community. Players have been able to accomplish a lot, including adding new mechanics to the game, overhauling its graphics, and replacing characters likeTriss and Yennefer with their Netflix versions.
The success of theWitcherfranchise has opened the door to CD Projekt Red’s next big title,Cyberpunk 2077.
