After a two-year hiatus,Invinciblereleased its first poster for its second season. The poster had primarily familiar characters from Season 1, but one pivotal character was not featured - Omni-Man, who served as the previous season’s main antagonist. The Invincibleseason 2 postershowed almost all the main cast fans became familiarized with in season 1, except Mark Grayson’s father, Nolan, who fled from Earth right after he stopped himself from beating his flesh and blood to death. This absence from the poster could serve as a potential clue for what may happen this season.RELATED:Invincible Season 2 Update Revealed By New Clip From Prime VideoInvincible’s official Twitter account released the poster for the upcoming season with the caption, “Almost there!!! New Invincible S2 art coming your way exclusively with @IGN. Head to the site for more details, just declassified by Cecil.” The poster features characters all sitting on a bus, looking like they’re acting casually and yet in character for themselves at the same time. Omni Man, who played the tyrannical Viltrumite, is noticeably not involved in the poster, which could indicate that he may not show up right away for the upcoming season or at all.

TheInvincibleseason 2 poster revealed plenty of familiar characters from season 1, which included characters previously shown to be deceased, like Donald and The Immortal, which may either hint that they come back to life or, at the very least, that their legacies will factor into the upcoming season. It also featurednew characters like Bulletproof, one of Robert Kirkman’s favorites. There are other new faces that audiences will surely get familiar with for the upcoming season that are likely from the comic.

Returning to Omni Man/, the last viewers saw him, he flew away from Earth in tears when he realized that no matter how much physical and psychological pain he put Mark through, his undying love for his father would never break. Seeing his son still unconditionally love him as a father was a new experience for Nolan, which he never had on his home planet. Not only did it mean Mark would never embrace his Viltrumite heritage, but perhaps Nolan, who grew up under Viltrum’s tyranny, truly had changed into becoming more of a human after his time on Earth. Even though 17 years is nothing to the life of a Viltrumite, it’s a long enough time for him to realize how much better life is when he’s around humanity.

So the question is will he continue to be an antagonist? It’s already been confirmedwho the villain forInvincibleseason 2 will be. While Omni Man was a surprise villain, what made him even more compelling was that he was stopped not because there was something on Earth more powerful than him but because the love and preciousness of Mankind had exceeded his desire to fulfill his obligations to Viltrum. While he may never be forgiven for his previous actions against the Guardians of the Globe, Omni Man’s arc may be about his redemption for the rest of the show.
