This makes it important to give the characters the necessary development within the same part and Araki has shown countless times that he is excellent at doing so.

Many characters inJoJo’s Bizarre Adventurehave undergone several changes; both good and bad. The changes in their demeanor affected each part and its outcome. While most of the changes are fleshed out over an entire part, there are some cases where the characters appeared in multiple parts and exhibited behavioral changes.

Jotaro Kujo is the main character ofStardust Crusaders. In this particular part, Jotaro appeared as a high schooler who had to save his mother from dying. InStardust CrusadersJotaro came off as a very cold-hearted person with a very one-dimensional personality.

However, as he appeared in the other parts, Jotaro became more likable and more mature. He calmly stayed away from the spotlight and helped the other characters to develop. In particular, his involvement inStone Oceanwas outstanding, as he redeemed himself in the eyes of his daughter, going as far as to sacrifice thechance to take down Puccito save Jolyne. His character growth was simply immaculate.

Jonathan Joestar was the very first Joestarto be introduced in the series. He was raised by his father, who was an extremely wealthy man. Unfortunately, due to his father’s immense wealth, Jonathan became a spoiled kid.

As he grew up, Jonathan matured into an extraordinary gentleman, who treated everyone with kindness including his enemies. His gentlemanly behavior earned him the praise and admiration of the people around him. When he finally died, even DIO was visibly shaken as he knew he had lost someone important.

6Rudol Von Stroheim

Von Stroheim was originally introduced as a villain inBattle Tendency. He wanted to use the power of the Pillar Men to make Germany the greatest force in the entire world. However, after realizing that he had made mistake, he sacrificed his body to try and stop Santana.

Later, Von Stroheim made a return and tried to help Joseph to save the world from the threat of the Pillar Men. It was quite refreshing to see a side character joining the side of the good guys and giving up his evil ways.

5Dio Brando

Dio’s case is a complex one. Initially, he came off as a mean individual who had no regard for the lives of other people. However, after multiple confrontations with Jonathan, Dio started to hide his intentions and pretended to be nice, which allowed him to fool the entire world into believing that he had become kind.

Once Dio’s real intentions were out in the open, he only became worse. After being defeated in Part 1, he came back crueler and more powerful, but he was defeated once again. By the time of his death, Dio had already met numerous people, who were introduced in the later parts. The people that he met would continue to affect the Joestar family even decades after his death.

4Joseph Joestar

When he was first introduced in the series, Joseph Joestar came off as an easy-going individual. He also seemed to be arrogant as he did not getalong with Caesar for a long time. However, as the part continued Joseph became more humble and respected the people that he fought.

When he appeared in Part 4, he had gained the reputation of being a bad parent as he never met Josuke. When he came to Morioh, he tried to earn Josuke’s trust and even went as far as slitting his own wrist to help Josuke to find the invisible baby.

3Jolyne Cujoh

Jolyne’s life wasn’t easy especially when she was just a young kid. She was raised by her mother as Jotaro was too busy with work. When Jolyne talked Jotaro in the prison, he said he was trying to protect his family, but it wasn’t easy for Jolyne to come to terms with her father’s decision.

However, when Jotaro sacrificed his own life to protectJolyne from Whitesnake’s attack, she began to understand why her father stayed away from them. Jolyne’s realization helped her to make better decisions and allowed her to save her father’s life. By the end of theStone Ocean,Jolyne had become one of the best characters in the series.

2Johnny Joestar

Johnny Joestar is the mainprotagonist ofSteel Ball Run, which is often considered to be the bestJoJopart. In comparison to the other Joestars, Johnny’s character development is on a whole different level. Initially, he was a selfish person, who tagged along with Gyro because he wanted to regain his ability to walk again.

However, Johnny’s character slowly went through a transformation that made him a very amazing character. He became more concerned with the welfare of Gyro and wanted to protect his friend at all costs. The greatest showing of his love for Gyro was when Johnny willingly gave up all the parts of the Saint’s Corpse to save Gyro from death.

1Josuke Higashikata

Josuke Higashikata is the lead character in the most recentJoJopart-Jojolion. He also shares his name with Josuke from Part 4, so to prevent confusion, Josuke from Part 8 is known as Gappy. For the most part, Gappy was confused about his identity as he had absolutely no recollection of who he was in the past.

Gappy’s main goal was to regain his memories and on his quest, Gappy showed numerous behavioral changes. In the beginning, he believed that it was him against the world, but, gradually, he started trusting other people around him, but he continued to be ruthless when his life was at risk.
