Final Fantasy 14just released a new commercial in Korea that shows just how incredible an animated series for the critically-acclaimed MMORPG would be. Though the newFinal Fantasy 14commercial is short, it shows off some truly amazing animation that leaves the audience wanting more.

The new animated commercial was posted on the official KoreanFinal Fantasy 14YouTube channel. The commercial may only be 15 seconds long, but every scene shows off some of the incredible characters, locations, and bosses fromFinal Fantasy 14in a whole new way. The ad couldn’t be more different from North AmericanFinal Fantasy 14commercials featuring stars like Tom Holland.

The commercial shows the progression of a Lallafell mining a rare ore in Lakeland, only for a Hrothgar to forge it into a sword then wielded by a Hyur character against the legendaryFinal Fantasy 14boss Bahamut. It then pans through some incredible action shots of the Warriors of Light as they engage the boss, showcasing the abilities of the Gunbreaker, Red Mage, Scholar, and Paladin jobs. The sleek animation style wasreminiscent ofFinal Fantasy 15: Kingsglaive–the official tie-in anime for Square Enix’s infamous road trip action RPG from 2016.

This is actually the second animated commercial KoreanFinal Fantasy 14players have gotten. The first commercial shows the wholesome journey of a newbie Miqo’te character as he explores theFinal Fantasy 14city of Limsa Lominsa. The charming commercial shows off dozens of animated characters battling monsters, helping allies, and even performing concerts on the street just like in the game. The first adorable commercial is about two minutes long, giving players even more of a taste of how good aFinal Fantasy 14anime would be if Square Enix were to produce a full series.

In 2019, it was announced that Sony Pictures Television and Hivemind would bedeveloping a live-actionFinal Fantasy 14TV series. However, it has been nearly four years since the announcement with almost no updates on its development. Between the Coronavirus pandemic and other production difficulties, players can safely assume the project has been indefinitely delayed until proven otherwise.

Even so, many players would absolutely love aFinal Fantasy 14series, live-action or animated. BetweenArcane,Dragon Age: Absolution, andCyperpunk: Edgerunners, there have been tons of successful shows adapted from video games. MMORPGs likeFinal Fantasy 14orWorld of Warcraftwould make amazing animated seriesif studios picked them up. Unfortunately, with neither IP currently involved in such a project, players will have to enjoy these commercials and other cinematic trailers until an actual series is announced.
