The latest update for Sony’sPlayStation 5console has secretly added a new feature not mentioned in the patch notes that displays user’s most-played games on their profile. A popular feature of the Nintendo 3DS was its Activity Log, which kept track of how much time gamers put into each game. Similar features have since been adopted by other consoles, with Xbox andPS5both keeping track of how much users have played each game in their library.
Previously,PS5 gamerswho were curious about how much time they played each game could go to the Games tab in their profile and look through their library that way. But as of the latest update, this information can be found in the Overview section. And not only that, but the three most-played games on a user’s profile are displayed front-and-center, along with the time that person has put into each game.

This change has come about after thelatest PS5 firmware update, which was released earlier this week. The official patch notes for that particular PS5 console update mentioned new accessibility features, new audio options, new ways to “connect with other players” and customize multiplayer sessions, and support for larger-capacity M.2 SSDs. The PS5 update patch notes made no mention of this change to user’s profiles. Curious gamers can navigate to their profiles after they’ve downloaded the latest PS5 system update and take note of their top 3 most played games themselves.
Some PS5 gamers will enjoy this feature, though others may not necessarily want their friends to be able to see their most-played games. There was a similar mixed reaction to thePS5 game progress feature, which shows gamers how much time they have left to complete a game’s story mode. Some have said that knowing how far along they are in a game’s story is a spoiler, as it lets them know when to expect everything to start wrapping up.
No matter how they feel about some of the new features that have been added to the PS5 over the years, fans can count on even more updates to be released for the console in the years ahead. Hopefully one of the future PS5 console updates will addPS4-style dynamic themes, as that’s a feature fans have been asking for since the PS5 first launched back in 2020, but plans to that effect have not been officially announced at the time of this writing.
