Summary
Insomniac blew away expectations withMarvel’s Spider-Manin 2018. It showed that there could be a goodSpider-Mangame unattached to any movie. Insomniac has had a good track record, too, as they released an interquel in 2020 alongside the launch of the PS5 viaMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Now, three years after that, a proper sequel,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, is here. It’s clear that Insomniac is going to make another game, but how long that will take is unknown. Will it be two, three, or more years? While fans wait, here are some things that would be great to see in a sequel.

Warning! This list contains spoilers for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2..
7A Female Spider-Hero
The sequel has to have a female superhero in it, and there are a myriad of choices. One, MJ has been playable in two of the games as just a normal human. In the comics, she does, at some point, become a Spider-Hero. Gwen Stacey has been missing from this game universe, and like Miles, she has gained popularity thanks to animated movies likeSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
It seems obvious then to include Spider-Gwen at some point. However, the most likely addition will probablybe Cindy Moon, who is teased at the end of the game. She is known as Silk in the comics and is yet another spider-based vigilante. One or even all three of these heroes would be great to see in the next game.

6Avengers
From day one, it was confirmed that Spider-Man is not the only superhero in this game universe. The Avengers Toweris a very prominent land structure that players can visit in the first game, and it appears in this sequel, too. The greater Marvel universe is teased even more inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2because Wong leaves Black Cat a note, also mentioning Doctor Strange.
These heroes are out there doing what is presumed to be world-saving or even universe-saving events. When is someone going to interact with Peter or Miles? Other heroes in New York City would work better, like Daredevil, so it would be cool to see some Marvel cameos beyond Spider-Man’s usuals.

5Multiplayer
When it was revealed that Peter and Miles were going to be in the same game, many fans thought it was going to feature co-op. That is not the case withMarvel’s Spider-Man 2,as players instead control each hero on separate missions. In the grand scheme of the game, they barely worked together on missions. That’s not a bad thing, but some fans were assuredly disappointed that they couldn’t play with a team of heroes.
The sequel could go the route ofGotham Knights, which featured four classic heroes from the Batman universe. There are plenty of heroes beyond Peter and Miles that could be added in the sequel for multiplayer purposes, like the aforementioned heroines of Spider-Gwen and Silk.

4A New City
There have been three versions of New York City in Insomniac’s Spider-Man games. There are sublet changes between the three versions, but ultimately, it is the same city. Can a fourth sequel still feel good if the game takes place in New York City once again? There are ways to make it stay fresh, but alternatively, Insomniac could stage the sequel in another city.
Perhaps the Spider-Heroes could get warped to a new dimension as well. There are instances of this inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2duringthe Black Catrescue mission wherein Miles goes to some frigid location for a split second, and in the end, Black Cat escapes into Paris. Portals can be utilized to a fun level in the future.

3Dialogue Choices
Balancing hero work, real work, and family/friend life is one the most stressful things in thelives of Peterand Miles. It helps that most of the people close to these heroes know that they are Spider-Man and understand that duty calls. It doesn’t make life any less hectic for the heroes, though. This is a high concept for an idea, but what if the sequel contained dialogue choices or branching paths?
Let’s say Peter gets a call for help, but he has something important to do for work. He could leave and ruin a relationship at work, or he could ask Miles to handle it instead to continue his work life. This would cause Miles to lose out on something as well. It seems like a daunting task, but it would certainly be something different for Insomniac.

2A Timeline Flashforward
At the end ofMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, it seems like Peter is handing in the reins to Miles. The game doesn’t outright say Peter is retiring from Spider-Man, but it certainly hints that he may slow down. This could lead to MJ and Peter getting married and having a kid. The game could flash forward a decade or more to seeNew York Cityin safe hands with Miles as an adult.
Furthermore, Peter would be middle-aged, perhaps longing for his Spider-Man days. There’s nothing more fun than to see a hero come out of retirement for one last job. It would be even wilder if Peter was an old man and the game skipped ahead twenty or more years. The sequel could take a page from the classic Batman story,The Dark Knight Returns.

1Or A Timeline Rewind
One of the newest additions toMarvel’s Spider-Man 2was the flashbacks involving Peter as a hero in his high school days. There aren’t a lot of young Peter missions, but what is there is memorable. The sequel could have more flashbacks to explain whatever events unfold, or Insomniac could expand the flashback idea to create a standalone prequel.
Presumably, the final game is not going to be a flashback-centered adventure, but eventually, the developer could go back to the drawing board if fans demand more Spider-Man. What was life like for a young Peter Parker as Spider-Man? Also, is this when Peter was mentored by heroes like Captain Americaor Iron Man? There are a lot of possibilities here to create a good prequel.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2was released on June 17, 2025, and is available on PS5.
