While promoting her new crime dramaSouth of HeavenwithTed Lasso’sJason Sudeikis, MCU star Evangeline Lilly, who portrays Hope van Dyne/ Wasp, was able to discuss some details surrounding Marvel Studios’Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, praising the upcoming phase 4 entry’s script.
Recently speaking with Collider, Lilly spoke highly ofAnt-Man 3’sscript, which was penned byRick and Mortywriter Jeff Loveness. Loveness gained notability after writing numerous season 4 episodes for theEmmy-winning animated sitcom series, eventually hopping on board to join the ongoing superhero universe.

“I think he is phenomenal. I think he’s one of the best writers we’ve ever had. I think he’s got an incredible mastery of voice,” Lilly shares. “So, on the page, I could hear all the characters, and I knew that he’d really kind of harnessed each person’s unique personality. I just think that it’s going to be really special. I actually think it has the chance to be the best one we’ve done yet.” Although 2015’sAnt-Manand 2018’sAnt-Man and the Waspwere both met with much praise, especially towards the comedic relief and overall lighter tones, it seems thatAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniamay just be the strongest film out of the three, pushing the characters into exciting new territories.
Even though she admits she hasn’t kept up with every MCU project followingAvengers: Endgame, Lilly would also go on to speak highly of other fan-favorite works in the MCU such as the newly released series for Disney+,WandaVision,andLoki. “I thinkWandaVisionwas phenomenal, and I think it was probably the best they’ve ever represented a female character. It was so incredible to see her be so complicated and so flawed and yet so redeemable and so lovable, the way we have typically historically treated our male characters. I think it was an epic female protagonist story.”As forLoki, “The science geek in me loves that element of how smart they are and how they tackle such enormous topics that most kind of fluff popcorn movies are not going to tackle. They tackled chaos theory. That’s really brave and really bold and really cool.”
With so many other big films and series precedingAnt-Man and the Wasp: QuantumanialikeEternals,Spider-Man: No Way Home,Hawkeye,Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, andThor: Love and Thunder, details will be kept under wraps for a little longer regarding the adventures of Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang/Ant-Man and the rest of the ensemble. What is known, though, is that the film will center around more of the Quantum Realm and feature Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror, who briefly appeared inLoki’sfinale, as the main antagonist of the film. Majors became an instant favorite for his villainous portrayal, withmany believing him to be a worthy followup villain to Thanosthat will surely have dire consequences for the future of the MCU.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniawill also star Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne, and Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang (replacing Emma Fuhrmann who played the character inAvengers: Endgame). Peyton Reed will be returning once again to direct the film, who is coming off of his directing work on season 2’s hitStar Warsseries for Disney+,The Mandalorian.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, originally set for a 2022 release date, will now release in theatres on February 17th, 2023.
