TheHood: Outlaws and Legendsannouncement trailer gives viewers a brief look at the game’s story and gameplay. Judging by the material presented,Hoodtakes place during medieval times and takes inspiration from the tale ofRobin Hood, which is evident by the game’s title and the trailer’s voice-over narration.
According to this narration,Hood: Outlaws and Legendsfollows the story of a rebellion staged by a group of outlaws against a corrupt government. Said government steals property from its subjects and hordes it for itself. The outlaws — who wield magical powers and call themselves Wraiths — steal back this property for the people, and do so by any means necessary.
The Wraiths are not the only group of outlaws waging war against the government, though. Other small bands of thieves with similar skills are trying to steal back things, too. However, rather than working together, outlaw groups view one another as rivals and will kill each other to secure being able to take the credit for stealing, thus becoming legends in the eyes of the people.
Hood: Outlaws and Legendswill be a 4v4 multiplayer gamethat sees two teams of players — outlaw groups — vying to steal back items from government strongholds. The team that gets to the item first and carries it out of the stronghold wins. But to accomplish this, they have to fight off the opposing team and enemies controlled by AI, all while working with limited ammunition. The chests are also heavy, so players will overall have to be smart about how they handle presented situations if they want to win.
Hood: Outlaws and Legendswill not be aPlayStation 5 launch title. The game’s trailer didn’t give an exact release date, but it did provide a release window: early spring 2021. Hood won’t be a PlayStation exclusive title either. It will launch on the Xbox Series X and PC as well, which makes sense as Focus Home typically makes cross-platform games.
Hood: Outlaws and Legends arrives on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC in 2021.
