The many dimensions withinMinecraftgive players plenty of interesting environments to explore, and an ambitious, conceptual update created by a fan shows what a new “underworld” dimension could look like in the game, along with the mobs that would inhabit it.Minecraftfans have long been hoping for a new dimension in the game, and though they haven’t seen one in over a decade, some of the game’s recent updates have hinted towards a new dimension that could arrive someday in the future.

Minecraft’s multiple strange dimensionsshow that there’s more to the game than blue skies and green fields, as the main Overworld dimension is just one of three realms that players can traverse in-game. While the Overworld is where most players spend the bulk of their time, the Nether dimension offers a completely different and even more hostile environment. This dark hellscape is full of creepy biomes, and plays host to its own ecosystem of strange monsters that live among the Nether’s lava lakes. There’s also the End dimension, another strange realm consisting of rocky islands which are suspended amid a limitless void that offers a true endgame challenge for players.

ThoughMinecraft’s Nether received a massive overhaulin its own update some years ago, fans have been craving a new dimension to explore for years now. One creative member of theMinecraftcommunity, a fan named Kane Carter, has designed an unsettling dimension of their own as part of a conceptual update which they named the “Ghosts and Graves” update. This awesome fanmade update is packed with mob and block designs, all of which are complete with their own art designs and even potential gameplay effects. The update imagines what an “Underworld” dimension could look like inMinecraft, a realm deeper even than the Nether which is complete with its own terrifying mobs, eerie environments, and valuable resources.

According to its creator, the Underworld dimension would be a place inspired heavily by the Greek interpretation of the underworld, a place slightly different toMinecraft’s more familiar Nether realm. Players would have to traverse hazardous rivers in search of rare resources such as Ectoplasm and Pink Salt deposits, the latter of which would provide a resource capable of deterring hostile ghost mobs. The update would bring plenty of new creatures of undead nature, namely, a variety of different dangerous ghosts such as the Reeper, a ghoul-like form of the Creeper that would employ a slightly different means of attack.

ThoughMinecraft’s previous Nether Update saw an almost complete overhaul to the dimension, introducing a whole plethora of new biomes, mobs, structures, and more, the game hasn’t seen an entirely new dimension since the End was released along with the game itself. Though manyfans are hoping for a similar overhaul toMinecraft’s End dimensionin the future, the Ancient Cities introduced in the more recent Wild Update have introduced a portal-like structure that many fans have speculated will lead to a new dimension someday.
